In That Order

“How do I look,” she asked sheepishly, finally looking up to meet his gaze.


He stared at her from across the room, never taking his hands out of his pockets. No matter what the circumstances were, he had a laissez faire attitude about him that never faded away.


“Well,” she asked again, “what are you thinking about? Use your words,” she prodded him.


“I’m thinking ravishing, chaos, astonished, in that particular order,” he finally replied.


She cocked her head to the side, uncertain of how to respond.


“You look ravishing, chaos will ensue, and when it’s over, you’ll be astonished,” he said slyly, as he started to casually stroll toward her, closing the distance between them.
