Please Forgive Me

I wish I’d never let go

As we danced in the moonlights eternal glow

A song of lovers, or friends or foe

The roles became twisted

So long ago

I wish I had known how the dance would end

Tumbling down, again and again

The memory of steps burned into my heart

A beautiful picture, of spiteful art

I wish I’d never let go that night

As the sky turned pale, with morns first light

Exposing the truth buried so deep

My hand slipped from yours, the first spin of the fight

This echoing dance that spun through the night

Nothing but words, dreams and spite

I cling to the memories,

A fruitless fight

I had to let go, my love please know

forgive me

I am meant to be alone
