POEM STARTER
Poison.
Write a descriptive poem about something poisonous, and its effect on its target. This could be literal or metaphorical.
Toxicity
As I sit and listen to your lies,
It eats away at me.
Every tale knows no guise,
I cannot break free.
You tell me things that are not true,
The gaslight has been lit,
Doubt creeps in - what do I do,
I feel like I’ve been hit.
I question things I know as fact,
When you say your side.
Your melodrama knows no tact,
Eroding at my pride.
My candle has all melted down,
I go and fetch you tea,
This time I smile - no frown found,
Drink up, then I’m free.
