Silence
“Silence”, a boat rests cradled in the night, the soft waves lapping at its sides.
“Creak”, a faint sound, but heard, still.
“Puk” the old row boat rocks slowly in the dark sea.
“Creeeak”, the old fisherwoman adjusts in her seat leaning forward as she takes a long stroke of the paddle.
“Splash”, the fisherwoman looks up, squinting into the black night.
“Puk, Puk, Puk”, the rowboat turns as the wind picks up. The fisherwoman reaches down into her pocket.
“Flick”, the cigarette is held lightly between her two fingers as the lighter comes closer.
“THUMP”, the boat lifts up and tilts down. The cigarette falls into the purple waves.
“bump”, what was that?
“Bump”, the fisherwoman holds her lantern over the edge. A cold sweat freezes over the woman as a dark figure flashes underneath her.
“Gasp” the woman sits back down and begins rowing through the deep waters.

“Krsshh”, Radio static, loud and irritating.
“Click”, The news channel turns on in a busy café.
