He continues, “It’s not just that.”

“Then, what is it?” She said with a soft smile. “Just say it.”

“I want to love you, to take care of you, to hold you tight when you’re down, and you won’t let me. Why is that?”

“I’m shocked. Why me though?” She replied as her smile faded.

“You didn’t answer my question.” He stopped in his tracks.

“I can’t let you love me because I wouldn’t be able to love you back that way I want to.”

“Why? What do you mean?” He asked calmly but confused.

“You know exactly what I mean.” She struggled to keep calm.

“Oh, because of that? It doesn’t matter.”

“You know it does, Matt.” She replied with tears in her eyes.

Matt hugged her and comforted her. Rosie was so upset that they couldn’t be together even if they tried.

“I’m sorry, Matt. Maybe it’s time for you to fall out of love with me. Because you know my circumstances and that my family would be very against us. It’s just impossible.”

As I watched this happen, I was so angry and saddened for them because they are friends of mine and I knew exactly what she meant.
