WRITING OBSTACLE

Write a short paragraph about a holiday without repeating any adverbs or adjectives that you use.

Adverbs and adjectives are used to describe verbs and nouns, respectively. Limiting their use to once each will lead to you making more unusual choices – see what new descriptors you use!

The Hunting Lodge

A great big Manor House, with strong walls of stone and thick wooden doors. A feeling of safety and comfort, a luxury yet to be beaten.

Hot summer afternoons, laying on the grass in the sun, a honey-coloured tan on your arms and legs, the delicious smell of barbecue hotdogs and burgers wafting towards you.

Acres and acres of woodland, with rushing water, sparkling and glistening in the early evening sunshine, trickling like sweet songs in your ears.

Heaven for a week, before reality was shattered.
