POEM STARTER
Write a winter Pantoum.
A pantoum is a poem where each stanza is 4 lines, and the second and fourth line of each stanza are repeated as the first and third lines of the next. As this creates a lot of repetition, try to pick a winter theme that would benefit from emphasis of certain lines.
Winter Gloominess
The sun sets earlier,
It's cold and dark.
You feel as though the world is grey and black,
The gloominess of winter is back.
It's cold and dark,
The sadness returns,
The gloominess of winter is back.
You have to learn to be wise.
The sadness returns,
All you can hear are people's silent yearns.
The gloominess of winter is back,
Lay in bed and try to ease.
All you can hear are people's silent yearns,
No one to talk to, no one is concerned.
Lay in bed and try to ease,
For winter is back, so do as you please.
