The Syndicate’s Treasure

It’s 10 o’clock in the evening and the protagonist, Trey, has been on the run for a few hours. The FBI has been alerted to his crimes, but knew not of his whereabouts. The Syndicate was a group of headhunters whose main objectives were to capture individuals who were publicized as rogues. Trey was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and each member of the Syndicate was connected by secure cell phone devices. At 5:57 in the evening, Trey’s photograph was sent over the network establishing him as a threat to the network. The moment his photo went into circulation, every member took to the streets to locate him. To receive the financial reward, he needed to be captured alive. He became the game. His cell phone signal, as well as his vehicle driven was sent to the members to assist in a quick capture. It’s 10:13 PM, and he’s speeding on the interstate to avoid detection of police until he runs into traffic. The members in their vehicles around him glanced at their phones and back up at him in recognition of the photo in circulation. He quickly shut off his headlights and dashed for the shoulder to escape. If the FBI captured him, it was all over. There were two variables keeping Trey on the Syndicate’s map: his cell phone and his vehicle. He exited the interstate and found a parking lot to dump his car. He parked and watched as three large trucks parked nearby. None of them exited their vehicle, so he wasted no time in leaving his behind and made out on foot. He wouldn’t get far before an officer patrolling the area cut his lights on in search of Trey. The patrolmen parked behind his car and did not leave his vehicle. Trey made the decision to chuck the phone. It was the final piece giving away his location...
