A Weed In A Field Of Wildflowers🌻
When everyone is walking fast, I speed up to match their pace
Even though it brings my legs to stone
When everyone is reading a certain book, i open it up too
Even though the story is boring and I yearn for a more interesting one
Because I don’t want to stick out like a weed in a field of wildflowers
Then my petals would fall out, leaving me with a million stares
So I zip up my jacket and pull up my hood like every else around me
Even though, I yearn to show my gleaming hair
But somehow, certain people still lay their eyes on me like watching hawks
And the rocks in my legs began to feel heavier,
And I begin to sweat in my completely zipped up coat
They take my hand and pull down my zipper halfway
I slow down just a bit causing some of the stones to dissolve
And I pause on reading the terrible book I bought
And I begin to show my gleaming hair in the mirror at my home
As years pass, I begin to feel more comfortable in my body
The free spots in my legs feel like a soft cushion
My hair looks like a princesses when she’s going to a ball
And my yearn to read a good book is like a wish for food after a long day at work
So I yank off the coat, and let my gleaming hair fly
I close the book I bought, and open one that’s more my type
I choose my own pace and walk it in every gathering
I hide the coat in a dark hole in my closet, hoping to never see it again
I walk free from the aching always there in my legs
I get so sucked into the books I read that I could read for hours
And seeing my gleaming hair in the mirror makes me smile
Now I’m fine with sticking out, like a weed in a fireld of wildflowers
