The Outcast

He sat on his horse, looking from side to side,

Hands near the pistol ready to shoot far and wide.

The sun beat down on his chin,

He thought there was no way he could win.

He had lived in the town for years,

His stubborn mind rebelled, nobody would bring him to tears.

All he wanted was somewhere to call home,

now he’d be forced travel and roam.

The local towns folk showed no mercy,

where was his friend, little old Percy?

Pulling his horse to the right,

he knew he could be in for a fearsome fight.

Canter away he did,

he was no longer this kid.

He knew the next town was 30 mile,

but a new start could end with a smile.

He was no longer a US Ranger,

but at least he was out of danger.
