Ice Skating - Revised
When you’re living on thin ice
Everything you do must be done thrice
When it’s good it’s great, but just you wait
If you’re not perfect, your life is at stake
Don’t believe what you are told,
The gas stove is lit, the flame so bold
Fire melts ice, you must put the flame out
Go with the flow, and don’t you dare shout
It doesn’t matter the things you do,
She will never pardon you
Every right turns into a wrong,
It’s so hard to feel strong
When all you hear are hateful words
And all the days, they start to blur
If you don’t move, the ice will break
Can’t afford to make a mistake
It’s broken before, the water so freezing
Even when you fell under, she was still teasing
Ask for help with no answer,
Maybe you’re meant to be a dancer
Dance around the swinging moods,
And do the things she says to do
Calculated, like ballet
My feet hurt, but what can I say?
Pirouette around the stage,
Preforming for a place to stay
Can’t stop skating, must stay warm
What does it feel like not to conform?
The air is brittle, skin is dry
Hail shoots down from the sky
What she wields feels like a knife
Just like the runner that’s saving your life
But this you deserve, or so she says
Her screams and slaps ringing in your head
The things she does are never nice,
And so, you learned to skate on ice.
