You buy an item at random from an antiques shop, not realising at first what it really is...

Ralphie’s Curiosities

Stepping out of Ralphie’s Curiosities, little bow-tied parcel in hand, I felt myself brimming with disappointment. What had possessed me to actually buy something from the dingy, cobweb ridden store? And as if that wasn’t enough, why did I feel the need to pick up one of the mystery items in particular? I rarely bought anything on a whim, and felt annoyed at myself for spending my hard earned tip money on such a random thing. Trudging back to my car, I let curiosity come over me. If I bought it, might as well open it up, right? Maybe it would turn out to be some kind of priceless treasure. Or, more likely, some sort of cheap gimmick I could’ve found at a thrift store. I pulled on the twine bow, unwrapping the brown paper, and, not expecting the object to be round, felt it slip from my fingers. Hearing the shatttering of glass, I looked down to see the remains of the heart-shaped vial and pink, sparkley looking liquid oozing out. I bent to pick it up only to feel my head spinning and my feet fall through the ground.
