Closure Part 2

When I saw the caller ID notification I quickly answered, excited. We hadn’t spoken in years.

“Hello, Linda. it’s your old teacher, Kathy. I came across your name in an old address book.

“I wondered how you were doing. Last time I saw you, you didn’t seem right.”

“Well, I didn’t know that Patty intended to talk to me at that community meeting you invited me to. You should have told me. Maybe I would have spoken to her.”

“Maybe, maybe not. You would have had closure.”

“I don’t see how talking to my abuser could give me closure.” I started to get annoyed. “I don’t really want to hear her excuses and put downs. I had a choice to walk away so I did. After all, she didn’t even say hi can we talk. “

“She was sure you would notice her standing there in your path. She wasn’t subtle,”

“Well, ambushing me in the public was very off putting. Did you tell her to do that?”

“I just wanted you to deal with the problem so it wouldn’t be necessary to think and talk about it anymore.”

I ‘ve already managed to do that without talking to her. Bye now.”
