Everything had been set up. We had been ahead of schedule too. Brennor made a mistake. He should have left the girl and that witch alone. They would have spun their wheels for weeks before uncovering anything of use. The pressure Brennor put on them gave them the fuel they needed. Even after they found some allies, the Cabinet didn’t believe them. We were in the clear to stay the course.

But no. Brennor jumped early, tipping our hand. He has been removed from Aleiant, and I’ll be taking over his role. Chase is on edge now, so everything I do will be scrutinized. Now I need to decide who I am bringing with me. Fresh blood should liven things up, maybe even give us a major advantage in this war. Vale will take Aleiant and Tarum back into the fold.

Personally, I don’t care who wins the war. I do my duty, swear my allegiance, but all I’m looking for is the paycheck. The better Vale does, the more I get paid. So, I guess I do care, to some degree, but not the way I should. Chase just wants to be the one to say he made Vale whole again.

I have meetings tonight to decide on a new strategy. Time to get cleaned up. It’s going to be a long evening.

It’s been decided. I leave for Aleiant in two days time. Casey, Brennor’s second will be waiting for me when I get there. She’ll be useful in the transition. We’ll need some new tactics since Brennor gave away our intent. Tarum is out of the question for now. We don’t have as much of a hold there yet.

We’ve gotten word that Vanessa was in Tarum asking for help. Their troops are dedicated, more so than in Aleiant. We don’t have to power to take on both nations at the same time.

We have some new tech to tryout; tools to pair with out magic. Breaching cities will be easier, but none of it has been battle tested. Chase is giving me a several weeks to regroup, then we hit them again. At least this time we will be prepared for their resistance.
