Miracle

He woke from Death in a strange and unfamiliar place.

He stood. The walls were white and the room was surgically clean. He didnt mind a mess, but this was a clearly a house that had never been occupied.

There was a hole in the wall. He childishily stuck his head in, and a familiar voice said. “What is your request?”

“Uh? A beaker?”

A chemistry set complete with beakers and test tubes, came out of the hole.

“I took the liberty of granting your true request; I hope you’ll find this to your liking.”

“Whoa!” He ran his hands over the perfect equipment then analyzed the hole, but there were no clues. He decided to check out the rest of the house.

Everything was automated. He could ask the house to change the temp, or even just a slight twitch or shiver and she would respond.

The food was self replicating and tasted better than anything he’d had in reality. The shower and bath were like Ceasar’s palace. Everything was perfect and beautiful and fascinating. The transportation was next on his list to analyze but first was tbe crucial mystery.

Was she watching him? Or was it indeed a Smart House or computer?

Was it science or magic?

Did it matter?

Of course it did, the scientist thought firmly.

The “why” is the key to science!
