Just Teddy

I sit down in the cafeteria and feel like I’m being watched. Oh It’s just Teddy. Our eyes lock for a second and then he looks away. Weird.

I sit down for my lunch and notice Teddy glance my way again. This time he smiles. Huh. His smile is really nice. I guess I’ve never noticed before.

I sit down for lunch and he waves hi. I feel a smile grow on my face. I wave back. He’s actually so nice.

I sit down for lunch and he slides into the seat next to me. “Your presentation was really smooth today. I wish I understood all that science stuff as well as you do.” Before I know what I’m saying, words fly out of my mouth, “I could help you study if you want.” He flashes his perfect smile again, “I think I’ll take you up on that offer.” He gets up and I just stare at him as he leaves. My heartbeat drops and I realize something much too late. I’ve already fallen for him. Him. Even his name is too much for my flustered brain. I don’t know if I can trust myself to say his name casually again.
