Long Lost Love

Today I decided to treat myself to shopping and dinner out. It was warm, sunny day with a little breeze to make it the perfect temperature. I walked into Macy’s and instantly I was hit with the scents of various perfumes and colognes. Mindlessly while walking further into the store, digging in my purse for a mask to block the heavy scents from giving me a migraine. I hear this familiar low baritone voice nd my heart skipped a beat. I look up and he’s standing right in front of me. His eyes widened, probably just as shocked as I was to see him after all these years. We stand in silence as we took in each other. Not knowing whether to hug or shake hands. As if being to familiar would ignite a flame that have almost simmered out. If we touch would we instantly have a flashback of steamy nights holding each other until we fell asleep? My eyes couldn’t help but look at his lips…I felt a deep yearning in stomach to just embrace him and kiss him. We seemed to share the same thought when our eyes met. Before we could acknowledge each other, a woman slightly taller than I walked to his side and slid her arm underneath his. It was as if someone stabbed me in the heart and stomach dropped.
