𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐎𝐍𝐄

Sunday morning 1984

I sat down at the kitchen table with my paper and yelled

“Misty come get your breakfast,”I had made her bacon and eggs her bacon so crispy that it was on the verge of crumbling into dust at that very moment, just how she liked it but she still hadn’t come out of her room so I put my paper down and went to go check on her I knocked on the door and asked

“Misty are you awake?,”Not her voice but a guttural low voice answered instead “Go away,” At that I burst into her room but she was the only one in there.She was sitting approximately 13 centimetres in front of the window and 10 centimetres from the bed she was staring out the window at the corn fields below.I ran to her and looked into her eyes she looked at me and said “ hi daddy,”. It wasn’t that guttural voice that answered it was her normal voice. “Daddy,my head hurts “said Misty. I didn’t know how to respond I was trying to comprehend what just happened it hadn’t seeped in yet I just told myself that I imagined the whole thing so I said “oh does your head hurt?,” “then let’s go get some head ache medicine.”

But that voice didn’t go away though I told it too.Then I got a chill down my spine and I spun around but nothing was there so in my head I told my self a as I walked down the hall,”I JUST IMAGINED IT,” very firmly and that time I think I got the message.
