POEM STARTER
Write a poem based on the theme of rediscovery.
Try to use this as the central theme to write a poem that has a structured rhyme scheme.
Christmas
On Christmas Day, at six in the morning.
I arise in my bed with the sun as it’s dawning.
I’m full of excitement and run into the den,
A pile of presents, I count at least ten!
I run to find mother and ask if I can start?
She nods and I run back to rip them apart.
Inside the wrapping I find toys, books and games.
This is the best day ever, as Santa has came.
It’s thirty years later as I lay in bed,
Before I’m awoke with a poke to my head.
My little beauty is beaming at me,
Asking to open what’s under the tree.
I nod and I follow to see her broad smile,
It makes all the hard work put in now worthwhile,
With every box opened she gives a small cheer,
This was the best day ever, as Santa was here.
