Imperfect Prince
I stared into my mothers pleading eyes. My father refused to look at me, he was disappointed.
“Your leaving?! After all I’ve done for you, you’re leaving for some mortal girl,” my mother cried.
“I love her! Why would I stay in a kingdom where I am the prince without powers. The prince with no future. The letdown of this kingdom!”
My mom turned away and my father finally looked me in my eyes.
“You really think that’s what you are?” He asked.
“Yes, I’ve heard it so many times. I’m useless for this kingdom. But I finally found something, and someone I love. I don’t care if it’s in the mortal world. Let me do it, let me be on my own, let me be with her,” I begged.
Both of my parents were upset I knew that. They didn’t understand how much I wanted to live in this new world with this new girl. I didn’t belong here. I never did. Besides being the prince of the kingdom, I was an outcast.
“Go before I change my mind. Come back one day. Promise me you will,” my dad said.
“I promise.”
“Go love her.”
I smiled to myself but there was a weight on my shoulders. I left the place that I had called home for so many years to go to a whole new world. I knew I’d be okay though, with her. I’d have a family, a home that felt like home, and my parents would come around.
I crossed the thick forest to the mortal world where I saw her waiting. The weight lifted and I felt my new life start.
