White Walls

Never ending chaos was the daily setting in Saint Mercy hospital. Between machines beeping, and patients needing medical intervention. A break neck pace was the usual way to carry on. This is what made Dr. Scott D. Roberts so successful. Always even keeled the pressure never seemed to get to Dr Roberts. He was calmly directing nurses to aid patients while making his rounds as smoothly as possible. While making his way through the buildings western wing he noticed something peculiar. Sitting on the bed was a slender man with an unsettling aura about him. The Dr had requested the patients file to see if he could get a better read on this man. Gerald O. Davis was the man’s name. He was battling schizophrenia, and had a long history of violent outbursts. Mr Davis had threatened multiple nurses so they resorted to restraining him to his bed with handcuffs. When Dr Roberts had passed by Mr Davis he swore he saw evil in his eyes. Mr Davis had been required to go through a psychiatric examination. The psychiatrist said there was no abnormal changes within his behavior or mental state. Not totally uncommon with someone with mental disorders to be brought in for further evaluation. However Dr Roberts was convinced there was something further off about this man. The eerie feeling produced when even looking at Mr Davis or sharing a room with him. It wasn’t your normal unsettling visitor this was like a black cloud hanging overhead. A feeling of darkness and lost hope. Dr Roberts was convinced they needed to take further action. Suggesting as much as religious intervention. Having a patient put through an exorcism wasn’t a normal occurrence in this day and age. It also wouldn’t be an easy feat with a typical hospital setting. Dr Roberts then ordered Mr Davis be moved to a psychiatric holding cell, until he could decide how to proceed with treatment. While in holding it seemed as though Mr Davis couldn’t be more content staring at the white walls with a soulless expression. Seemingly never moving, but also never breaking his gaze from the thick metal door. Almost as if expecting a visitor. Dr Roberts spent the next three days looking into religious rituals. He was convinced he needed to rid this man’s body of an evil spirit. He was unsuccessful with getting any local priest to take on the task. He then got the idea to seek out help from a well known paranormal investigator by the name of William Mason. Mason had been studying paranormal oddities for many years. If he didn’t have any answers into the condition of Mr Davis there would be no hope thought the Dr. Dr Roberts thinking this would be the best course of action decided to have Davis sedated for a few days. Dr Roberts saw this as his way of keeping Mr Davis from spreading his evil energy throughout the hospital. This should serve as a buffer while they get in touch with Mr Mason. After a multi hour long search Mason was located. He was happy to come see if he could help Mr Davis ’s condition. In the days leading up to Mr Mason’s arrival everything was normal inside Saint Mercy. Until the day came for Mr Mason to arrive that’s when they discovered Mr Davis was no longer inside the heavily padded locked room he had been enclosed in. An immediate red alert emergency was released. It was common place for a mental disorder patient to attempt escape, but none had ever just vanished out of thin air like this. The search was on for Davis but it was if he had never existed. Not a trace of him could be found anywhere on the grounds. Security cameras showed absolutely nothing of an old man escaping anywhere inside the building. Dr Roberts was hysterical screaming at the nurses. “How could you let this happen, that man was the devil.” Shouted Dr Roberts. The Dr was so frantic the head of security ordered him to be either removed from the building, or sedated. Sedation ended up being the chosen option. Mr Mason stood there in shock looking over the evidence he had been provided about both Dr Roberts, and Mr Davis. Something was extremely peculiar about this thought Mason. Upon the sedating the Dr the nurses realized the only available room to keep him was going to be the same one used for Mr Davis. This cruel twist of fate turned out to be everything Mr Mason needed to know. Once the Dr had been sedated and enclosed in the padded room the nurses were able to fill Mr Mason on the truth behind everything. There was no Gerald O. Davis. The man claiming to be Dr Scott Roberts was the actual schizophrenic mental patient. His hallucinations had become so severe he was imagining himself a satanic roommate inside his heavily padded abode. Mr Mason believing he had his time wasted by a crazy man decided this would be a good time to make his exit. The nurses showed him the way out as they prepared to go give Mr Roberts his next round of medication.
