The Skill

I woke up this morning feeling excited about the day. The night before, made a decision that I am going to start learning a new skill believing it's going to earn me money, give me the opportunity to network with a lot of people. Feeling giddy about this experience I am about to embark on.

Stood up from the bed, walked into the bathroom to have a quick bath. As I freshen up, staring at my face in the mirror, knew today was going to be good. Took a sit in front of my laptop.

As I try to press the power button, there was a power outage. This made me feel annoyed, which I was not aware of. Told myself that I am not bothered, or should I say trying to be optimistic, that the power is going to be back. The more I wait, realised it's not going to happen anytime soon. Two hours later, my laptops make a notification that my battery is 40 percent. I just started sourcing for materials on how to write and have barely done anything.

Felling anxious, I run through every page bookmarked for learning how to write stories. Deep inside me, I knew nothing was entering my mind. I don't think I would remember how to apply the tips of writing a short story. One hour later, My laptop pop a message for me to charge my battery. I chose to shut it down. Feeling down, I walked to the kitchen to get something to eat. I didn't want to pay attention to the fact that I didn't accomplish anything I consider reasonable.

I stare at the opened fridge and nothing in there was salivating for me to eat. I went back to my room I grabbed my purse, dressed up in a white gown, left the house to get a snack. There were so many shops to buy from, I didn't know which one that would have something I will like. I stopped at the first shop and asked for chocolate biscuits, which they had. I decided to buy five.

Walking back to the house, I saw an elderly person, not want to greet, so lifted my phone to my ear pretended to make a phone call and passed by her. Goodness, knowing that if I didn't pretend, this woman was going to stop me and ask me all the questions in the world, therefore delaying me.

I got home, thinking about the skill I just started, I didn't want this light issue to be an impediment to me achieving my skill, I need to find a solution quick. Going to my friend place at night when the generator is on for two hours is not a good, viable solution. Practising my skills at night is not going to work for me. I exhaled a sigh, it's too tiring trying to think about a solution. To get my mind off worrying.

I called my friend to know if she was at home, I was planning to spend time with her. She picked the phone to tell me she was not home, feeling surprised she would not be home at this time, I asked where she is. She ended up telling me that she was in a workspace where she gets to work without her mother calling her name and having to run errands for her mother. Not only that, but she also made me understand that there was an uninterrupted power supply with access to data.

She had recently complained to me that whenever she wants to work on her projects, that is the precise time her mother would call for her. It was affecting her speed at which she is supposed to finish her work. I was surprised and upset, “Why did you not tell about this?” I asked. For me, this was an answered prayer to my worry. I was so interested in this workspace that she sent me a link to the website, where I could check everything I need to know about the workspace. The more I read about the workspace, the more I was impressed. I quickly paid for a month because this is going to give me an opportunity to learn my skill with no stress involved.

My dad had just got back from work where I informed him about my plans, and he supported my decisions. Feeling giddy about learning the skill, I could wait for the next day to come so fast I could start learning.

The next morning I was prepared for the day. I packed my laptop bag, with some snacks and water with it. 40 minutes later, I had arrived at my destination when seeing a lot of people, was surprised and impressed. Did not expect a huge building was hiding in this environment. I strolled into the building, did registration, and sat down to wait for my laptop to be connected to the internet.

One hour later, with a frown on my face, I walked to the receptionist to complain not still been connected to the Wi-Fi. I was feeling upset. This was not the service I expected to get after paying.
