The screech of the shadowhawk peirced the air. I grinned. Something intresting to do today. As a magical investigator (apprentice), I was in charge of dealing with the grim reaper when he went on his killing sprees.

My familiar, Esme, bleated angrily. "C'mon.. It's 3 in the morning."

"Since when has that stopped me?" I smirked as I pulled him out of bed. "Never. But I can still protest." "Aaand since when has that stopped the grim reaper?" "...Charlie, you're still an apprentice. You aren't even supposed to deal with this stuff until you finish your apprenticeship."

"Doing is the best way of learning, Esme! Now come on!! We gotta beat ShadowFlower!" He grumbled and finally complied, and I shoved him into my hoodie pocket.

"Umm... Charlie? Why are we headed toward the window?"

I leaped out the window yelling, "Ariaali!" The wind shifted around me, creating a hoverboard shaped device that I landed on.

"Is this thing stable?"

"Of course not!" I yelled, making the hoverboard zip forward.

He turned green and ducked back into the pocket. I finally caught up to the shadowhawk arrow, following it as It curved toward the Blanke Hotel. It burst into a red light as It reached its destination.

"Can we go home now?" Esme shuddered. "Nope! Someone here is going to die tonight unless we intervene!" I stepped off the hoverboard as it evaporated into air.

"Oh. Wait a second!" I said. "I need to look more professional! Vestitme!" A pointed hat with purple gems plopped onto my head as I was dressed in combat boots, A shimmering robe bearing my badge and rank, and a broom fell into my hands. "You know nobody uses brooms for flying anymore, right?" Esme said. "I'm not gonna use it for flying! I'm going to hit the grim reaper with it!" Esme muttered under his breath as I stepped in to total chaos.

"Step aside, Your hero has arrived! Now who's gonna die tonight?" A dwarf pointed to the right hallway, and I turned to see the grim reaper cornering a small human child.

I pulled a potion from my pocket and drank it without taking my eyes off him. Then I darted at him with enhanced speed, weilding my broom and jumping and landing it squarely on the grim reapers head. "Take that loser!" I yelled before flipping backwards, the next spell at the tip of my toung.

The grim reaper hit me on my head with his scyth.

"Ughhh... why did that hurt so much..."

He was about to hit me with his scyth again, when vines wrapped around his arms, pinning him to the wall.

Shadowflower stepped into my line of veiw. "What have I said about staying put until i tell you you can help, Charlie?"

I leaned back and let her finish off the Grim reaper, while grumbling angrily.

I guess i will have to wait another day to take him down. Revenge will soon be mine.
