Mares, also known as “Night Hags” are supernatural creatures that are most commonly associated with the phenomenon of sleep paralysis.

Individuals are prone to this phenomenon when lost in profound despair and heartache. The Mare feeds on these potent emotions and dons the facade of the object of said emotions, praying on the need of emotional resortation. Once invited into the subconscious, the malevolent being immobilises the individual and forces them to relive their most devastating memories until they driven into madness or death--which ever comes first.

For demon hunters, know that it is only in the moments just before the immobilisation of the victim, when the Mare’s true form is revealed, that they can be defeated.

Note, for completeness, no demon hunter has yet to be successful in defeating a Mare, thus, its true form is still unknown.
