What do you do when the world you know, starts to fall apart? The answer seemed simple you run, but to a certain scientist that answer didn't seem quite correct.
You see intergalactic space travel had been the rage for a while, so it came as no surprise that when the Earth began to rot and its colors slowly started to drain, people packed their bags and left. It was easy, just book a ticket and you were on your way. The only item you needed was money, and a large sum at that.
For a well renowned scientist such as Finn this wasn’t a problem. He had more than enough money, to book himself a ship to wherever he wanted to go a fancy one as well, the ones with spacy high-tech rooms. He was perfectly able, but Finn was a particular person, and he had a particular of making decisions.
So, while everyone fortunate enough to afford the high price tag were making haste to get on any ship possible, before all the ships became packed. Finn sat in his living room…thinking. Out all the ways a Finn could spend his time, thinking is what he did most, sleeping came as close second. Although Finn thought a lot more than the average person, he was still terrible at it.
Maybe that was the reason he was unable to come to decision. He knew he was able to run, but something about that just didn’t sit right with him. He did not have any problem with running away, by all accounts Finn was one of the biggest cowards he knew, although he didn’t know many people.
It was the part of being able to run that bothered him, perhaps it was because he was a scientist. He solved people’s problems, and to him this was a problem. If a wheelchair helps people who are “unable” to walk. He didn’t like the fact that spaceships only took people who were “able” to afford the price.
So, as the last ships left the docks and headed for the realm of infinite possibilities, known as space. He just sat on his couch in his dark living room. Thinking…
“That’s it!” He proclaimed as he jumped up off the couch. “I’ll stay, I’ll stay and fix this planet! I’ll make sure everyone survives…” He said to himself. Finn wondered if he could fix this planet, before the people in space came back to see what had become of the planet Earth.
Finn, who was known by his peers as the craziest scientist was now the only scientist left on Earth. And as chaos ensued outside all over the world among the people who were unable to leave. Finn stayed in his house or better yet, in his head…thinking.
Hell on earth, and Finn had just signed up to extinguish the flames.
