POEM STARTER
Heavy rain, cracked windows, and a forgotten song.
Use these descriptors as inspiration for a poem.
The ruin
The rain was dropping through the ceiling
A house beheld a happy family
Empty, forgotten not a singe living thing
Children played, adults laughed, nothing more lively
Before the paint had washed off of the walls
Little girls were playing with their dolls
Before the windows had shattered
from the kitchen once came joyful chatter
Before cracks broke through muddy floors
Children were running through the corridors
Before the furniture had been destroyed
Guests regaled themselves overjoyed
Before the facades had turned grey and brown
it was the most charming house in town
Before the lanterns had fallen to the ground
Family an friendship formed the perfect bond
Now, there was nothing left
other than the subtle breeze singing along
the untold melody of a forgotten song.
