Granny?

Grandma is quiet

She moves no more

They told me she's dead

Their hearts are sore.

She is pale, yes

Will she wake up?

They told me no

She will not get up.

Not sure I understand

They say it's death

Granny won't come back

It was her last breath

They bury her coffin

And now I cry

I didn't know before

But this is how you die.

PS - I was only 6 y.o. when my great-grandma passed. I didn't attend the funeral as I was too young but I remember being very confused about her not waking up again. I hope I did justice to the feeling of a child not knowing what's going on.
