POEM STARTER

Write a poem with the title “Opening the Cupboard”.

There are many routes that you could take in this poem. Skeletons in the closet, scenes of domestic life, a metaphor for revelation?

Opening the Cupboard

I open the cupboard door wide Looky looky at what's inside, Is it the darkest and murderous of thoughts? In a heavy, never to be opened box? Or is it a sweater, maybe a handmade cover? Gifted by a sweet but long dead lover? Perhaps it's a place where you sit all day long? Thinking about why you're right and why he's wrong? Or is it a skeleton that you find in there? Covered in cobwebs, a dead man's lair? What's inside varies widely for the people that seek But it's strange for me for it's totally unique So when I open my cupboard door wide I find a room clean and white, such a disguise
