Backstage

Nell shook her hands, nervously pacing back and forth backstage. This was her first big audition, and, if she nailed it, could land her a spot on Star Agency, the dream she had since she was a little girl.

If she could do this, she could start professionally making music, that people would listen to and resonate with. It meant so much to her, she had to prove that she could do this, to her disapproving parents, and her ex-boyfriend who told her she would never make it. She had to do this for her, so she could have the job she always dreamed of.

She heard the girl two people ahead of her get called up, and she stepped up in line. Looking into a small mirror, she tried to fix anything she could before she went on to sing. Her dirty blonde hair was tied up, so she took it out, decided she didn't like that, tied it back up, and then took it back out again. She tried a breathing exercise to calm her nerves, but then the girl ahead of her was called out and her nerves came back full force. The girl who had gone on before came back in tears, muttering something about quarter notes.

She prepared herself to go out and perform, shook out her hands, wiped the nervous sweat off of her face, and waited.

"Miss Nell Jordan, please come to center stage!"

This was her moment.
