Run

Kindergarten started with fire and air raid drills

All the kids lined up with wide eyes and thrills

I of corse was the smallest one in the class

Last in line as the taller kids saw the glass

Out on the playground playing with the red ball

Excited kids lining up to play my name not a call

So I sat under the old oak tree and read my book

Didn’t care about the game so I didn’t even look

Year...

Her

He starts his lonely quiet day, with a cup of cold tea

What am I going to do, what will my solitary day be

Glancing at the weathered, faded pictures of his first love

Sitting on the back porch, dreaming of the stars above

Putting on his tan lifetime worn jacket, and his baseball hat

Stepping out into the grassy endless field, looking at that

Searching and listening, to the ever so blustery win...

Box

The silent taps started, around midnight with a slow noise

Was it the sound, of someone’s cane or a bunch of boys

Strang new visitors, and guests were here for a big feast

Some traveled from the far lands, and some from the east

Colorful tan suitcases, of mystery appeared on the parlor floor

Pink and gold hat boxes, and a box shaped like a gun in past war

Side by side, snidely looking glances ...

Him

“If only this world had shown me a little more mercy”

I was raised with the truth and follow your good heart

My parents had twins and couldn’t tell them apart

My brother had a evil streak and got away with bad

I was the one who got blamed and was very sad

The after we graduated he got the best job in town

Bragging and boasting and spending money down

Why can’t you be like your famous workin...

You

When I start to write a poem or a letter

I think of you and smile and feel better

As the rain falls and the dry lawn gets wetter

My inner thoughts are always about you

When the winter winds bring cold snow

It’s is the warmth that you bring I know

Your kind and loving arms is where I go

My inner thoughts are always about you

When the day is over and the stars appear

Your warm hand is holdin...

Star

The party crowd, was hopping now dancing to the glow

One bright star of the party, was jeweled from head to toe

Her smile was brilliant, from her stressless life with no fear

This was her pre wedding, celebration party with very cold beer

The glass fountain, that was serving champagne was over flowing

One certain lady, stretched out her long arm with her face glowing

Her precious engagement rin...

Ocean

Did you see her down by the beach

Her polka dotted suite was color peach

She had all the boys hanging around

With the towels and drinks on the ground

But I was there and only saw one shy boy

He was reading a book not being very coy

So how can you mix up the numbers so soon

She was there by herself on the beach at noon...

Found

The nightly silent fog horn, suddenly sounded far away

Sea bells and survival codes, rang out for help that day

A pair of exhausted fisherman, heard the anguish cry

Starting up their motors, hoping to find them they will try

The angry churning ocean, pushed them toward the land

There was a small white light, shining and a man waving a hand...

3

The silent phone suddenly came to life

Who was it my partner or even my wife

I love to juggle my life but I am not a clown

Smiles and laughter is my thing not a frown

How can we keep this little game at our play

They must keep together that is the only way

Laughing and singing can be heard from above

Their happy faces appear what is this cool love...

Point

Life is like a sharp stick

The point is not like a wick

They ask you if you got the rod

Don’t argue but just quietly nod

Some dogs chase after the twig

Humans throw it seeming so big

Some whittle away to make a toy

For some lonely young girl or boy

The useful stick is used as a walking cane

When you are hiking in the woods or in a lane...
