What would life without me be like, for you?
Life … without you? What a stupid question I mean, it already sounds impossible, doesn’t it?- And if themere though, a simple hypothesis, seams to heavy to bear, How am I expected to describe the reality of it? But fine if that‘s what you want. Imagine hell; with the fires the boiling Water and Air so hot it burns your Lungs When you breath. Can you see it? Yeah it would be worse than that. Because at least you can feel something. The Pain, the heat But without you? There would be nothing. Of course, no Joy, no happiness, no glee. But also no sadness, no anger no pain. There would be nothing. Just a void. The void that once was filled up wir your laughter, your tears, your feelings, and emotions. And in the process of this void trying to fill itself with something, it sucks everything else in. Every day will be a constant asking of „when will this end“ With the answers being „never“, because you never were, never are and never will be. You are nowhere, while I always will have to be somewhere. I will be nothing more than an empty vessel, carrying around the place in me, where you should have been. Son the answer to your question is, Life without you, wouldn‘t be life anymore. It wouldn‘t even be existing I think Life without you, would also have to be life without me.

I am surrounded by two things, shards of glass and water, one is supposed to be there, the other one isn‘t. I feel the ground vibrating, as if something ginormous came running towards me. I am trying to reach some form of shelter, but despite my enormous efforts I don‘t seem to be able to move anywhere, however the world seems to be bouncing up and done at a weird angle. Simultaneously I notice another weird, but more concerning thing. I can‘t breathe. No matter how hard I try to breath in, it seems like my airways are somehow glued together. The steps have come to a halt right in front of me and it was indeed a giant. It looked familiar and I realized she (at least I assumed it was a her, since she was a lot less colorful than the smaller one I always saw) was one of the creature’s who observed me behind my glass, they looked very weird, with their long limbs, and the had a plump way of moving forward, by placing one of their longer limbs in front of the other one. The two shorter ones didn‘t seem to have any stirring function, however they were used, to grip things, like our food. Me and my friends were always cautious around them, but slowly grew accustomed to their presence (and I mean it was nice that we didn‘t have to hunt our own food). Suddenly, the giant started to make deep terrifying noises, and it took me a while to realize she was directing them at the smaller giant who I didn’t see at first. He started to make weird noises in response, and water started streaming down on, what I assumed it was, his face. I couldn‘t focus on what happened next between them, as I started to lose my consciousness, due to the fact that I couldn‘t breath. The last thing I heard sounded like far away streaming water.
„How could you do this“ I screamed at my little sister. I was furious, somehow she had managed to push several liters of water too heavy to lift even for me, down from it‘s stand. It shattered into thounsands of little pieces and flooded my whole room. Some of the fish were still jumping around, while others seemed to have given up. She started to cry „I‘ m sorry, I didn‘t mean to, I just wanted to play with the fish, but they were too high up“. She looked really sad, in her pink, wet dress and with tears streaming down her face but still, she had to learn a lesson. „I can understand that, but you should have asked me instead. Now most of those fish you wanted to play with, are dead. Do you understand what that means, dead?“ she nodded and started to cry a little harder. „I can deal with the water damage later, let‘s try and see if we can save some fish first“, I say in a calmer manner, she nods, and looks at me, waiting for further instructions. „Go to our laundry room, grab the big grey bucket in the corner, and fill it up with water, when your done call me, don‘t try to carry the heavy bucket on your own, do you understand“ she nods and runs of, eager to right out her wrongs. I sigh, I just can‘t stay mad at her for long, I mean I‘m her big brother, who else wood teach her these things. I turn to the fish, and while I hear her filling up the bucket with water, I start inspecting them, the ones still moving, will get a new home eventually, the bucket is only temporary, the others I‘ll have to flush down the toilet. After a few minuites, I‘m done. I hope I didn‘t mistake any living ones as dead.
The fin.
„I can’t believe Scrooge needed three ghosts to realize what an idiot he was and needed to change“, Benny said, after finishing the book as a homework assignment and shook his head in disbelief. „Why? What is so hard to believe about a person being blind to their own faults?“ his best fried replied. „I‘m just saying, it would be enough for me if one of my friends would point it out “, Benny said to his friend Jacob. „Well, you‘re not that much better“ he said in response, „while he was chasing money, you are chasing clout“, „That‘s something different, I don‘t harm any other people during that.“ Benny answered while obviously getting annoyed. Jacob knew his friend well enough, so he stopped arguing about it, before it could escalate to a screaming match. „Let‘s grab something to eat“, he proposed instead, and saw how Benny‘s expression calmed down immediately.
„I’m home“, Benny shouted, while he discarded his shoes into the corner of the entrance hall. „Hello honey, how was school?“, his mom‘s melodic voice came out of the living room. „Boring as always and I still got schoolwork left to do“, Benny answered, while he started to go upstairs. In his room he sat down on his comfortable gaming chair with a big sigh. „I really could use the time to edit some of my videos, but I guess it’s no use, the presentation won‘t appear magically“, he mumbled to himself, as he pulled out his Laptop and wrote the Title: „Fame in the olden Days, how even in the past people risked their life, just for a bit of publicity“. What an odd topic that his teacher has assigned to him. And how Boring. He started to do his research and found articles upon articles about people dying in the most ridiculous ways, for example like the girl who tried to jump over a pit full of venomous snakes. How stupid one had to be to risk their own health, just for a bit of fame, he thought to himself.
„Did you hear about the girl who got stuck in the cave, and slowly starved to death? They managed to recover the body today“, Jacob greeted Benny the next day at school. „Good morning to you too, Jacob“, he answered in a sarcastic manner, „what was she doing there anyway?“. „She heard that no one had ever managed to get from one end of the cave, to the other, because they are connected by an extremely narrow tunnel. So she decided to be the first person to do it, even life streamed the whole thing. In the end, millions were witness to her final breath“, Jacob finished, with a suggestive glance towards Benny. „Oh don‘t be like this you know I would never put my life at risk, just for some internet clout“, Benny replied, „anyways, the class is about to start“ he said, with a slightly pissed tone and left Jacob behind.
„Do you want to watch this Talkshow with me tonight?“ his Mother asked during dinner, „it is with multiple researchers, who essentially all believe that in the future the only thing able to kill humans, will be their own wish to stand out from the masses, I personally have hope that humans will eventually grow out of their greed for fame. I mean, imagine what a horrible fate that would be, being immortal and still dying because of something that doesn‘t matter in the afterlife anyway“. „I‘m intrigued, let‘s watch it“, replied Benny with a queasy feeling.
„Shit, another thousand followers down“, Benny stared at the numbers in utter disbelief. Seemed like casual Mountain biking wasn‘t enough to excite people anymore. If he didn‘t want to lose even more, he had to act. Now. He grabed his helmet and carefully crept down the stairs, avoiding all the creeky ones. Once he was on his bike, he drove arround a little bit, looking for the perfect spot. Than he saw it. The Railroads. Perfect. He set up his equipment and started filming. He would just get off when a train would come, but the additional risk surely would give him a bunch of new followers. Just as he wanted to leave the tracks, he slipped, and fell in a very unfortunate manner. „Shit, I can‘t move, I must have broken my leg“. Benny left out a whimper. Just as he said this, he heard a train approaching. The last thing Benny saw, were it‘s headlights.
