The cloudy grey sky booms a deep rumble, threatening to escape the clouds at any moment. I rush home from school, cutting through the lush field to escape the grumbling storm. The air is warm and thin, shoving strands of loose hair into my eyes as I brush past the grass. My boots clank on stones and twigs dotted along the path, teasing my legs to give out from underneath me. I feel a wet drop pierce my cheek, and throw my umbrella up over my shoulder to shield my body from the rain.
As I cross the half way point of the ocean of green, the clouds clasp, sending a branch of purple energy into the forest on the horizon. Another bolt shoots toward a large oak tree, casting a large, soft cloud that emerges from where it struck. I watch in terror as the tree evaporates into purple dust.
A shiver races down my spine, my knees trembling with shock.
My path is blocked, and I have no intention of going to investigate. I’m about to turn around when I see a figure emerge from the corupption. It walks towards me, then stops in its tracks, keeping its body still as though it were a stone itself. My heart increases its pace, my breaths shorter.
My eyes begin to flutter as the rain begins to pour with force. As though the sky has not let out enough rage, it send another strand of its energy, streaking through the sky and towards the figure.
“Watch out!” I scream, panicking.
It strikes true, replacing the figure with its purple remains. My breath pauses, unsure of what has happend. My feet are planted, unable to move as I watch the coloured clouds return to the sky.
