“Ok here we go!” I said to myself in the loud winding hallway of North Acre High School. “Hey, Emma!” My best friend Olive yelled cheerfully as I walked up to her. “Hey Olive. Ummm there’s been something I’ve been meaning to tell you an…” I started to talk when Olive caught me off. “I understand you don’t have to apologize!” Olive replied with a grin. “What? I’m not here to apologize,” I snapped. I didn’t understand what I was supposed to apologize for. I guess that’s a conversation for a different day. “Oh,” she looked confused and started looking around the hallway, “so what do you want then?” “Well there’s no easy way to say this, but the reason I can never hang out or I’m always canceling plans is… well…” I tried to say it, but how could I tell my best friend that I had a superpower and kept it from her for three years? “Emma spit it out already!” Olive snapped and rolled her eyes. “I am a superhero.” I said it! Yes now she finally knows! “Your a what?” She didn’t believe me and I could tell, “ok if your a superhero what’s your power?” “I fly,” I whispered so no one else could hear. “WHAT!!!!! And your just telling this to me now!!!!!!!” Olive smiled and gave me the biggest hug ever, “I forgive you for ever plan you’ve canceled and ever movie night you’ve missed!” Finally my best friend knows. What could go wrong?
It was a beautiful day and Ava was riding her most trusted horse Dutch. The sun was shining down on them as they road through the big open field. Ava was feeling brave today so she decided to go a little farther than usual. As the two reached the end of the field Dutch slowed down into a smooth trot. Ava looked out in front of her and saw that there was a fence to be jumped before their journey could continue. Dutch backed up and then started to canter towards the fence. Ava wasn’t used to jumping bareback but she thought how hard could it be? She took a deep breath and went for it! Only the fence was bigger then it looked and Ava flew off of Dutch, hit the ground, and rolled into the ditch. It started to get colder and Ava’s hands turned pink, she yelled for someone to save her, but no one came. After almost 45 minutes of waiting Ava could hear Dutch Galloping back to her. Except, he wasn’t alone he had brought Ava’s older brother Elliot to come and rescue her. “Thank you Dutch,” Ava smiled and raised a hand for her brother to pull her out of the ditch.
