I wake up
Hungry
No breakfast for me though
It’s lunchtime
Still hungry
I’ll have only a yogurt
I want to be skinny
I hit the gym
2 hours straight
Down 50 pounds
but I’m still miserable
Years later
The pounds are back
But I’m happier than ever
Weight meant nothing...
Poetry
Protein, carbs, fats, alcohol
Different foods and flavors
Textures and temperatures
Glycolysis, ketogenesis, Krebs cycle
It all ends in the same place
ATP
Energy to keep living
To breathe and smile
Laugh and cry
My mitrochondria give me energy...
Romance
The first lesson I was taught
Never give up
Giving up is weak
Don't. Be. Weak.
I can do anything I set my mind to
But…
So what if I give up?
On things that don't serve me anymore
On things I don't believe in anymore
On things I don't want anymore
I can change and grow
Giving up isn't always weak...
Starting as a quiet drizzle
Pitter patter on the roof
Petrichor in the air
A gentle breeze blows the droplets
They land on my window with a thud
The rain picks up to a roar
I am safe and warm in bed...
