A father with children of both 16 and 8 going on 9 lay peacefully on his deathbed, and the youngest child is crying tears that could fill a river. “I can’t believe it. Papa is gone,” the youngest said, crying. “Everything will be okay. Though we don’t have father anymore, we still have each other.” The eldest replied. “You’re too optimistic, sister. Our papa is gone, and he’s not coming back.” The youngest cried. That night, there was a beautiful sunset, and two birds flew together to get to a tree. “Look at the sunset,” the eldest said. The youngest was hesitant, but he looked at the sky, and saw something beautiful. “The sky, it’s pink and orange, my favorite colors. It’s beautiful..” The youngest said, mesmerized. “Maybe this is God’s way of showing you that no matter how dark something is, there’s always something beautiful.” The eldest smiled. “Maybe He’s right…” The youngest said, trailing off.

I was suddenly caught in a rainstorm. My mother, bless her heart, had warned me not to go out today because of the impending storm, but I didn’t listen. I was going to catch a nasty cold out in the storm, and I was grateful that I had my raincoat and rain hat. I saw a cabin. Desperate for warmth, I knocked on the door. An elderly woman answered, and she invited me inside and allowed me to sit by the fire. She gave me a piece of chocolate cake, and it tasted amazing. She offered me some nightclothes and a warm bed. I called my mom, and she was relieved that I was safe. The next morning, after I ate some porridge, I went on my way home.
The end
Me and my best friend, Beth, did everything together, so you can imagine my surprise when I learned that she was moving away. I had her number saved, so at least we could talk to each other on the phone. The day Beth left was a very emotional one. We said goodbye, and I was in tears when I got home. We’re still really good friends.
