My heart, or my head. It keeps me awake at night. My head, or my heart? My heart says art, while my head says something else. My heart says book writing, while my head says something else. My head says no, my heart says yes. Which one? Do I have to choose? Is it really that important to choose my head, or my heart?
The Umbrella Man. No one really knows much about him, but everyday he stands outside with an umbrella above his head, even when it’s not even raining. And that, is how the story started.
It was Halloween night, kids were going from door to door getting candy, and some kids were using the same old phrase: ‘Trick or treat, smell my feet’ or whatever it was, I don’t pay much mind to those kids.
KNOCK KNOCK “Arg! It’s one of those kids again!” I opened the door. “What do you want k- ki- kid?” I stuttered, thinking everything was normal because a kid was in-front of me, I thought it was just another kid that came to my door for candy, but then, when the kid moved to the side, behind him was the ‘Umbrella Man’ I heard rumours about him, and I swear I saw him at least once, but why did he come to my door, but as I looked at both of their faces, the kid was full of fear, and the Umbrella Man? You couldn’t see even a little pinch of emotion behind that mask.
“You.. The Umbrella Man, huh? Why’d you come to my house, what did I do? And why are you going around with that defenceless, innocent and scared kid?” I asked, my throat started feeling weird, I started having a shaky voice, it was fear, I backed up as he came closer.
The Umbrella Man just stayed there, not a word came from him, but then, he gave me a note from his pocket, I hesitantly took it, I was visibly shaking, shivers going down my spine, the note said.
‘I won’t hurt you, just be careful of your actions, or I will end you.’ I shaked reading the note, on the back, it said my name.
‘Carson’. Then, the umbrella man finally spoke. “Just.. joking. Like everyone says, right?” His voice was deep and scary, it sounded odd..
He came closer and put his hand in his pocket, and came very close, and just grabbed my arm.
“Goodbye. Watch your actions young man.” He stabbed Carson in the throat, after taking his pocket knife out. Blood was everywhere, whatever happened to the kid? Well, he was killed too.
The END. Be careful of your actions, and stay safe.
Characters Ahead: Veridian: Tom cat with splotches and colourful fur, grumpy eyes, shorthair, green eyes. Kotai: Young she-cat with light brown, white and grey fur, light brown eyes, shorthair. Smudge: Black and white tom-cat with green eyes, little bit fluffy.
Veridian and Kotai were by the lake, watching the water flow, so slow, yet so fast. “Hey Kotai, you know how we live in the forest right?” Kotai asked.
“Yeah, why?” Kotai asked curiously, what was Veridian going to say?
“Well, uh.. There’s a big thing with square shaped holes in it, (house) and I think I can see a cat from inside of it, what if it’s trapped?” Veridian said, he felt like going there, but he waited for Kotai’s response first.
“Are you trying to say you wanna go there and rescue that cat? I’m way younger then you, but your such a goof! I heard there’s big giants that live there, are you sure you wanna go there? I have a bad feeling about that giant den!” Kotai said, she had a straight face, she didn’t blink even once as she said those words, and she made it loud and clear.
“A goof? Me? Hah, your the real goof here.” Veridian scoffed.
“Did you just scoff at me?! How rude of you, Veridian.” Kotai said.
“Yes I did! And we are gonna go to that house! Right now, right this moment, right this second, we are going in there, and.. hopefully rescuing that cat..”Veridian started confidently, and slowly as he finished his sentence he lost confidence, but he still wanted to prove his point, and rescue that cat!
“Alright alright fine, ‘big brother’, what a goof!” Kotai rolled her eyes and reluctantly followed him.
As soon as they were infront of the house, they stared at it in awe, but then.. THUD STOMP BOOM tiptoe tiptoe… “Hide!” Kotai whispered, as they both quickly ran behind the bushes, closing their eyes tightly as the ‘giant’ walked past them with a huge black plastic back in their hands, it smelt horrible!
“Gah, their finally gone!” Veridian said, quietly running into the house with Kotai.
“If we die here, it’s your fault! Alright? ALL your fault! We almost died back there!” Kotai said in a worried way.
“Alright alright, let’s just go up these big blocks of wood that get higher by the step.” (stairs) “Oh no.. OH NOO! There’s a big giant! And I swear it’s coming closer to us!” Kotai cried.
“I’m sorry I’m sorry, this is all my fault, goodbye Kotai!” Veridian said, closing his eyes tightly, but then.. The human just started rubbing its hand gently on Kotai’s pelt.
“Oh, yes, this is the best..” Kotai said, she started rolling around, that was weird.
“HEY! LEAVE MY- si- sister.. alone..” Veridian said, before the other giant started rubbing his pelt gently too.
“Hey you two! Are you joining my family?” A black and white cat walked infront of us.
“Huh?” Veridian and Kotai said, their voices in sync.
“Oh! Yes, yes we are, so what’s your name? We came running here, we saw you from the square shaped holes in the giant den. We thought you were trapped, also, my name is Kotai, and this is Veridian!” Kotai asked excitedly, also stating their names.
“My names Smudge, and those square things aren’t holes, they are see-through walls called windows, and, I’m a little hungry, wanna eat with me?” Smudge said.
“Eat? Free food? No hunting, no scratching, free pelt rubbing? Free to roam around here?” Veridian and Kotai asked.
“Yup, now come along!” Smudge said, as the humans picked all 3 of them up, taking them to their bowls.

Characters for this two person short book: Veridian (older tom cat) Kotai (young age she-cat)
Veridan lived in a forest, he was a forest cat, and he knew every part of the forest, but there was one part he would never go to, some say that whoever goes into there awakens something huge, something that creates destruction, some others say that whoever comes in, never comes out, and some say that very dangerous cats live in there. And that, is how our story starts.
Veridian walked past that forest with shivers coming down his spine. “Uh, come on Kotai, let’s get back, shall we?” Veridian asked, his voice was shaky, he was fearful of that bit of the forest. “Yeah! Let’s get back, who knows what will happen if we stay here!” Kotai said. “Yeah… Alright, get on my back.” Veridian said. “Okay.” Kotai said. “Good, now-“ Veridian said, pausing as Kotai got off. “Hold on, let me quickly get that berry that dropped from my basket, just hold on!” Kotai said, as the berry rolled into the forest. “KOTAI NO!” Veridian ran towards Kotai, but it was too late. Something big, tall and strong stood up, roaring at Veridian as he held Kotai by the scruff. “Veridian, leave me, it’s my fault! I’m sorry!” Kotai said, as tears dropped from their eyes extremely quickly. “Kotai..” Veridian said, tears also rolled down from his cheeks. It was time to leave this place, the beautiful forest, his home, and to leave Kotai aswell, it was too late to help Kotai, so he ran and ran, looking back, as the huge monster ran after him, and every step the monster took, there was a giant footprint that made the forest shake, as trees fell down, Veridian tried as best as he could to dodge all of those trees and the monster, and he ran and ran, and then he hid, and after that, the monster left. “N- No.. K- KOTAI NOO!” Veridian cried, tears rolling down his cheeks at the same time, he was literally screaming crying.. Veridian then was about to step out of the forest. “Goodbye, my home, my forest, and goodbye, Kotai. You are the best sister I could ever have..” Veridian then stepped out of the forest, and that was his horrible goodbye.
