It was January 5th, 1938 when the government finally granted the appeal. People were sent near the ufo to clean and prep it for scientific research. For years this was a sensitive topic. No one dared to go near it despite the vast amount of questions that were left unanswered. There were no answers, and that’s how it was. Today the snow was being swept off the cold hard metal of the ufo. A crowd gathers around watching from afar. They were close enough to see but maintained a distance well enough for escape.
It is very common for me to come home and hear the loud sounds of the tv play in the background. My mother works from home so she likes to keep the tv on. She says it gives her comfort because it gives her the impression that someone is with her while my father and I are not home. Upon coming home, I reach for the remote and lower the sound. I absolutely hate when the tv volume is high especially right after I return from school. I’m tired and all I want to do is eat and rest. The tv noise plays over my voice as I try to speak to my mother, she tries speaking over the tv. We battle against the sound of the tv and try to increase our tone. Someone that is used to Going home and hearing nothing but the sound of their breathe as they open their door. The wooshing sound of the door pushes open and the footsteps as they take a few steps inside before removing their shoes. These are sounds I never hear but desire the most. I want to hear sounds of my life, I want to hear my living . If they were to walk into my house I think they would be taken aback by the noise and maybe resort to headphones for the rest of the day.
I awake hearing the low gentle rustling of leaves as they fall down onto me. A bright red leaf slowly flows down onto my arm. Fall was near. I stand brushing off the dirty that had gotten into my clothes and bare skin of my arms. Looking forward I see the vast endless mountains. Every way I turn, I was surrounded by snowy mountains and darkness. The world looked so scary beyond my little island of light. I knew I had to go, winter was approaching and soon my green mountain would turn snowy and inhabitable. It was time to step out of my comfort and go into the big wide world of danger.
