“god, i feel like i’ve just woken up from a 1,000 year nap.” the patient groaned, propping himself up on his shoulders as the student doctors circled around his bed. what must have been the head of the group chuckled, a nervous undertone to his laugh that the patient seemed to have just brushed off. “something unexpected happened, during your surgery, your majesty.” the patient’s ears pricked up and he tilted his head curiously. “well, it seems we just weren’t able to treat you with the limited medicine at the time and our best option was to ‘sedate’ you for an extended period. do you follow?” seemingly and understandably confused, the patient nodded his head. “well, the medicine became available to treat you properly and it was a success. however, the medicine only became available approximately 952 years later than your planned surgery.”
the ‘late’ king looked over at the students, who all quickly looked down and started scribbling on their papers. he chuckled slightly, assuming it was a joke of some sort and he turned back to the main doctor. “you’re joking, right?”
She looks around, dazed. Yara feels the restriction pulling against her arms and she remembers what has happened. She starts to struggle, her voice straining and only resulting in muffled cries for help. “Shut up.” Says a man, in the corner of the damp, dirty room. He begins to walk over to her, but her cries were just a distraction. She successfully untied her hands and holds the rope behind the chair. The man edges towards her and starts to ask her questions. She shows a visible disinterest and as he turns away, she jumps up. Throwing the rope around his neck and her hands over his mouth she whispers, “shut up.” Satisfied that the man won’t be able to interrogate her any longer, she moved to the door, waiting for silence on the other side.
