His hand reached up as if trying to touch the sky, reaching for the air. His screams muffled by the water that rushed into his lungs. He sunk bounded by ties and a metal weight. His lungs burned as the water filled them. The weight reached the bottom of the lake, fish swam past him and greens floated on above him. This would surely be his ending. His eyes burning from the cold water slowly closed as he lost consciousness.
Sitting up from his bed he tried to scream but couldn’t. He ran to the bathroom to cough up water. Water? His eyes burned and his lungs where on fire. Looking up at the mirror his face was pale and rinkled as if it had been soaking in water. Had he drunk water in his sleep? Had he gone to the bathtub and drawn some water? No he hadn’t. The bathtub was empty and his water bottle no where to be found. So what had happened? Did he drown in his sleep by means of his very own dream? Surely that was impossible and yet, it had just happened.
“I bite the hand that feeds me, so that maybe it’ll let me starve” the creature says, its rib cage showing through its tight skin “I feed the hand that bites me” the man says with kindness in his eyes “Why?” The creature wails “Because underneath all that skin and monster features is still a human being I will nourish that being back to health even if it kills me” “Why?” The creature asks quietly, admiration lights up its eyes “Because every human, monster or not, deserves a second chance”
Arms squared, legs in a stance. I through a punch and he doghed it. With my right arm over his shoulder from the punch he found an opening to hit me in my gut. I coughed. He then proceeded to kneel and swing his legs at mine while i was doubled over coughing. I tripped and fell face first. “Never let your guard down!” He said standing over me. I held my stomach and somberly looked up. Just then Casper waslked in. We both stiffed up, he wasn’t supposed to be here for another hour. “What are you doing?we agreed that you would protect her, not kick her around” “We are training” “Training? I asked you to protect her, not train her” he snarled. “Her training will protect her from the shapeshifter” i stood up “Please Uncle Casper, i like training, rather then waiting around for a monster to come and kill me” he looked ghostly pale after those words. Casper and Tavia locked a cold stare as if eye contact alone would burst one of them to pieces. “Fine, i will allow this, but you must be easy with her” Casper said still starring into Tavias eyes. I saw Tavia smile as Caspers back was turned. “Right then where were we?” He said. Trying to hide his smile. I thought this was odd. But it all made sense a week later when he stabbed me in the back. Literally.
It’s been a long time since I’ve written so this could be trash, but let me know what you thought and what i can improve on!
