We were looking at each other. Just staring. One of the best moments of my life. It was then that I knew, she is the one. She looked away after about 9 seconds. One of the worst moments of my life. It felt like someone pierced my stomach with the worlds sharpest dagger. But it was just then. I could see our future together. Wow, she asks me if I want to get a drink. I say yes, we have a drink. And another, and another, and another. After that she asked me if I wanted to go back to her place. Once again, I said yes. We were both too drunk to drive so we took a cab. And then we went back to her place. Then we started dating. She was beautiful, blonde hair with blue eyes I would give anyone like that my full love and attention. Anyways, after about 2 years I proposed. She says yes. We celebrate that night. The wedding is beautiful. Red roses everywhere, all our friends and family were there, she looked beautiful in that white dress and veil. The ceremony was amazing, so was the reception. The honeymoon was even better. 2 weeks just me and her. After that we were celebrating our 5th anniversary and we went to the same bar that night, to get that same drink, over, and over, and over again. But she didn’t drink any, she said she “just didn’t feel like it”. Pathetic. Anyways when we got home I was too drunk that I still can’t remember half of that night, this part of the night though, I remember, I remember all of it. In my drunken state I told her it was dumb for her to not drink anything. She protested saying that she just didn’t want any, I told her again that she was stupid for thinking that. I didn’t care how “rude” I was being or how much I loved her, she was being ignorant and unreasonable. I slept on the couch that night. The next night I went back to the bar and came back to the house visibly drunk. Maybe even more than the night before, she, of course being her stupid self got mad. After that I went to that bar 5 times a week. After about 6 weeks of that. She broke up with me, kicked me out of the house. I broke nearly everything in the house. Lamps, windows, doors, even our tv. So I spent that night at a motel. A very run down run that I would happily burn it down to the ground. The next night I had spent all day at the bar. Then when I was drunk, more drunk then I have ever been before. I went back to the house. With the worlds sharpest dagger. She lost her life that night. So, back to the present. She asked me if I wanted to get a drink. I said yes.
In her eyes I’ve always seen the depths of the universe. From the moment I met her, her eyes held me, but now looking into her eyes, her eyes were letting me go.
Did I go too far?
My affair was meant to keep us together. An unfortunate side-effect of being in the spotlight and being with her. Sacrifices must be taken to get salvation. I used to see my salvation in her eyes. The blue eyes I could fall in to.
Now I realize that I fell so far that she couldn’t follow, and so instead I drowned while she floated away. And with that I couldn’t even see her eyes anymore.
Little did I know that the next time I would see those eyes, it would all change again.
