Get On
“Jack, there’s plenty of room on the door for you. Get on,” I yell. Jack shakes his head before climbing onto the door next to me and we start drifting. A few minutes later, the door could not hold us both and it capsized. The water is so cold and I float here wondering why didn’t I just listen to Jack when he said it wouldn’t hold us both. All I see is the sea for miles around me, no boats or anything to help us. Jack opens his arms and I swim into them, he kisses me on the forehead and whispers, “We’ll be together forever, I love you.” That is the last thing I hear before the sea takes hold of us and never lets go.
(Author Note: Not my best work, in my opinion).
The Door
The two held hands: Jack with the vast majority of his body in the frigid waters, while Rose’s body lay mostly on a floating door. Both were shivering, however Jack’s shaking was a death rattle; and while the two had just promised to ‘never let go’, it was obvious this promise was one that wasn’t meant literally. They would part; one would ‘let go’ but would it be in life or death?
And that wouldn’t do for Rose.
In the frigid cold, awaiting her rescue, listening to the love of her life’s death rattle, Rose acted. She’d not been known for doing what she was told to do; and she wasn’t to start now.
‘Jack. Jack.’ Rose horsely whispered. Jack was alive, but barely. He whimpered; eyes barely open. ‘Rose,’ he whimpered.
Rose, gingerly, with strength she didn’t know she had, managed to pull Jack partially onto the floating wreckage. The door wasn’t big enough for them both; four legs hung off into the hypothermic waters.
‘Never let go, Jack. Hold me.’ Rose held Jack as close to her own cold body as she could. ‘Don’t let go.’
‘Stop! Cut! What the fuck was that? Kate!’
Leo opened his eyes; he was cold but not so frigid that he was on his death bed. Kate was slightly warmer, given that she was on the door, but only slightly. Both were tired from an exhausting day of shooting.
Kate sat up quickly nearly spilling them both into the water. ‘There’s room for them both, James! You know it. I know it. She’d never let him die!’
James Cameron, the director, yelled back in an exasperating tone, ‘There’s room for them both, but they both die!’
‘It’s a movie. There’s a slight chance they both survive; Kate would never leave him in the water knowing he will die.’
‘Kate, we’ve been over this. They’d both die. Exposure.’
Kate looks at James. James at Leo. Leo to the cameraman. ‘My balls are the size of peanuts.’
‘We’ll shoot both endings, Kate.’
Kate nods. She’s won this battle but knows she’s not won the war. Yet. She adjusts herself on the door and pushes Leo playfully into the water.
‘Action!’
Physics
“Damnit, Rose. There is more than enough room in the door for both of us.”
“But, Jack, it’s not about the size of the door, it’s the weight.”
“Move over.”
Rose moved over, Jack got on the door. He smiled a smug grin at her as the door appeared to float. That grin quickly turned to a look of horror as the door started to sink. Rose slipped off first, her look said it all, “I should have stayed in the lifeboat.”
Jack sunk in to the frozen waters right after her. Good, I wouldn’t miss either of them. Rose should have stayed with me, after all, we were engaged.
Hmm...I hope that necklace is safe...
Sunk
As Jack thrashed and kicked while trying to get upon the door with Rose, he ended up toppling it over with Rose falling off into the ocean. They immediately braced and hugged to keep warm in the freezing temperatures. All Rose could do was stare into the shocked and pleading face of Jack who that very second realised He had killed them both. Tears rolling down his face she kissed him in the forehead and told him not “Not to worry” as they both shared their final kiss.
My Heart doesn’t need to go on
The water was so chilling I could not even think straight. Jack hoisted me up on a hard surface, trying to pull himself up but eventually dangled off the side for support. I pushed my body down to the lower half to level it for him and started pulling him towards me. It was so cold I could not even comprehend the amount of time we spent holding each other trying to draw any warmth to avoid freezing to death. There was a beam of light moving back and force reflecting in the distance but I could not even imagine if it was really happening until Jack paddled us with his arms closer to the beam. I started calling out, my voice hoarse but it was pointless, they are too far away. I started paddling my arms alongside Jack to try and cover the distance. As we got closer the beam ahead started to blind my eyes appearing but I could also make out the silhouette of a boat. The boat approached us and a pair of hands pulled us on the boat. I woke up with the blinding light shinning in my eyes but this time it generated warmth to my body. As I opened my eyes, I looked upon the rising sun casting a shade of orange onto Jack’s face. Somehow we had survived this, it didn’t seem real. As the realisation set in I wondered about my mother and my ex fiancé. If they were alive and how I would find them. I didn’t have to wonder too much though because there was Cal in the distance looking smug as if we almost didn’t have a near death experience. Maybe this could be my fresh start, I squeezed Jack’s hand and smiled as his eyes looked tenderly into mine. This was our fresh start.
The Sequel to Titanic
As jack and rose floated off on the door jack leaned in for a kiss with rose. It was a slow, long kiss. “Rose” he said. “I’m so happy-“ Rose threw Jack off the door. “What the heck” said jack. “I don’t care about YOU, I want Cal Hockley” said Rose. “Well I Don’t think you can have him” said jack. “why not?” Asked Rose. “because he’s frozen solid” said jack. “How would you know that?” Said Rose. “ because he’s floating right in front of us!” Said jack. “Oh, well whatever” she ties the hope diamond around jack’s neck. “ I hope it gives you as much luck as it gave me” she said. Then she Kicked him in the face and paddled away. The End
