STORY STARTER
Create a scene about the scenario that causes your main character to cry for the first time during adulthood.
Remember their tears don't have to be from sadness.
The day I turned 18
The day I turned 18, sweet sunny, summer day!
Was I by forest’s edge, kept saying I’m okay,
That day, from all of days, wasn’t supposed to cry!
That day, unlike the others, wasn’t about goodbyes!
I wanted, one more time, first time in adulthood,
To hug a special oak tree, my friend so strong and good,
To tell him that I’m sorry I didn’t come to see
The forest, I was busy to grow and simply be…
Too many storms have kept us apart for all these years,
But now I am an adult and I will face my fears!
I wanted him to know that I remember all,
How tight I used to hold him when my life seemed to fall
That I survived my childhood so I’ll grow old to be
Much stronger than the ones who should be strong for me…
The day I turned 18, sweet, sunny summer day,
Was I by forest’s edge, and nothing was okay
For my beloved oak tree was cut, and so my soul
An empty place remained, instead of heart - a hole…
Love then became a lie and justice - a satire!
First time, in adulthood, I cried with tears of fire.
