Fires
Love is like a fire, burning brightly in your soul,
And when a loss extinguishes, you never feel quite whole.
We feel a little slower, not as strong as we have been,
The loss will take a toll and feel like we've run out of steam.
Fires big and small always keep the soul alight,
And every one extinguished, never out without a fight.
But even when the flames die down, and they no longer thrive,
The embers there are glowing, keeping memories alive.
The world goes on around you, many loves will come and go,
So many burning fires, some will roar and some will glow.
Some will make a warmth, that's felt through each and every limb,
Some will leave a subtle little tickle on the skin.
The fires fill our soul, they keep us going, keep us strong,
We're built just like steam engines, flames will keep us going on.
