The Footprints

The footprints kept on going, and they stayed like that, even when the ocean waves surely should have taken them out to see when it hit the prints.

Suddenly, the prints stopped, turned towards the sead and then there was a gap and then there were two footprints, right next to each other. I assumed whoever had walked down the beach had jumped. Their walking was silent.

But then, as if the thing had become able to make noise, there was a splash and in the water was a fish. All the footprints on the sand from the thing had disappeared.

I turned around and watched them vanish, when someone grabbed my hand. I turned to see a beautiful mermaid in the water. Her beauty lured me in like a fish on a hook. I didn’t want to join her but soon, the water was up to my chest.

The mermaid still held into my arm and then she jerked it and my head went under the water.

That was the last thing I remembered.
