When you see a shadow If couse it’s in the sun But what if it’s not What if it’s midnight
What if there are no street lights No light of the moon Nor there be porch lights Not a light to be seen
But in the dark There’s a shadow that is following you You can’t see your own For it’s dark
But the shadow follows you Through the empty void You don’t know where to go Nor do you know where you are
But the shadow was far behind But it slowly gets closer You quicken your pace The shadow follows after
A scream enters your lungs It echos off the…Walls? You don’t remember being Left in a room
You keep running Like a zombie but not slow Your hands out in front of you So you don’t bump into anything
Your heart begins to race The shadow is still on pursuit You trip over something You seem to fall over
But then your now in the body Of a shadow You watch the human get up You want to leave
But when the human starts to run You are pulled with an Unseen force The human looks back
Finally sees they are not the shadow The stand there, shocked Their voice is shallow “I don’t know where you came from”
My voice was just a breath And I walked away, all my choice I didn’t believe it until The light flooded in
The human stared back at me As I left him alone He looked to see his shadow was gone What was the point of the shadow?
Was it a spirit of a ghost Trapped in his body That was finally set free But must follow
The shades, thousands of them really All of the blue that he saw In her eyes The night they drove past the Freeway exit sign
She closed her eyes one last time In the eyes a girl with Dirt blond hair Who’s laughter mirrored The wails of a mother
She laughed when Things really weren’t funny Because they had left their home Her father to remarry She hated August, she hated June
They found her as stubborn as As any fool could be She shouted when she was upset More often she would cry than laugh anymore; she had lost everything
“I wanna go back” That’s all she would say When they tried to get her to school She would scream her mama’s name But she was stuck with the life now
She was used to it being so peaceful Back where the snow was But that trip to the hospital, That day mum never came back She discovered she was alone
Be her father had a girl to watch The one who had seen it all “Abbey, this is your new sister” Abbey didn’t scream nor cry But held her sister’s hand and bowed
She learned that she was not alone The Montana girl lived Nowhere close there now But she learned that her New sister would need her
So as the plane ride took them away With the sister with bright blond hair Abbey crossed her heart Breathed on the plane window Saying, “goodbye Montana Girl”
I waited there for minutes Maybe longer if I hadn’t Left for a moment I waited as the sun rose
And as it set with all The colors that I couldn’t count And I waited for you in the snow I waited for nearly half my life
Maybe longer because I Cried when I realized you Would never come back You were gone for good
So here I am, still hiding Not wanting to be seen Just as shy as you were Before you left the hidding place
If I could go back now If I had one wish the use I would bring you back You could join my hiding place
Where are you now? Are you up in the clouds The clouds I don’t believe in The place where it’s always happy
Are you on an island, still alive Wondering if you could find Your girl someday You would laugh, cry
One wish would be used When you found me I don’t see you because Maybe it’s because you’re not here
If you were here If they tried harder If they wouldn’t give up You’d still me here
(I changed it up a bit.) I closed my eyes. It was only a dream. I was not young anymore. Mama was far away from me to tell me bedtime stories of princesses and magic and witches. But after I fell, time seemed to fast-forward or somehow teleport me to a new place. When I fell, all there was was nothing. Just black. Then-suddenly-a worn cobblestone road. I saw a girl who looked just like me. Mama. The cobblestone road stretched across a field of flowers. But soon, the field dissapeared. Buildings grew and soon it was the city she knew. But wait, I remembered that my mama told me a story of field that she lived by. Then colonists came and built buildings. Mama had to get used to the city life. The vision changed to her and a tall boy with dark hair and dark eyes and dark skin. Papa. I had never met Papa. He ran away so many years ago. Then how did I know he was my Papa? The city life changed again and Mama and a Papa were laughing. The buildings grew around them and they held hands. The cobblestone path ended where Mama’s childhood house was, but instead of that, there was a mighty castle, and the cobblestone was removed and placed with shiny marble. Mama was crying. Her house was gone and she didn’t have anywhere to live. She ran away with Papa. I saw a baby girl. Me. Papa and Mama fought. I hear gunshots in the distance. Papa died. A war had taken Papa away where he would fight. He didn’t survive a week. Then I heard someone call my name. I gasped for air, awoken from my dream, looking into the eyes of a man I had never seen before. I didn’t know if I was still dreaming but I knew that I wasn’t. “Papa.”
The footprints kept on going, and they stayed like that, even when the ocean waves surely should have taken them out to see when it hit the prints. Suddenly, the prints stopped, turned towards the sead and then there was a gap and then there were two footprints, right next to each other. I assumed whoever had walked down the beach had jumped. Their walking was silent. But then, as if the thing had become able to make noise, there was a splash and in the water was a fish. All the footprints on the sand from the thing had disappeared. I turned around and watched them vanish, when someone grabbed my hand. I turned to see a beautiful mermaid in the water. Her beauty lured me in like a fish on a hook. I didn’t want to join her but soon, the water was up to my chest. The mermaid still held into my arm and then she jerked it and my head went under the water. That was the last thing I remembered.
“Welcome! Emergency meeting!” Growled Rusty Bulldog. “Our owners have been very naughty!” Barks and growls and mews and chirps filled the old abandoned mansion. “Timmy has been cleaning up my feces from my litterbox,” piped up Poppy Tabby. Three hairless cats agreed. “My owner has limited my millet intake to one branch a week!” Crowed Mich Parrot. Soon, the whole room was filled with angry creatures, bug and small, complaining to anyone that would listen. “…Doesn’t let me out of my my cage because they sleep while I’m awake…” “…Don’t let me sleep with them. I sleep in a kennel.” “…Don’t let me sleep on the counter while they…” “…Not enough treats…” “…No belly rubs…” “…Baby came home one day…”
“Enough!” Bulldog roared. “I see how it is. But it being my job, I have a plan. I have a plan that might just work. All the animals stopped their snarling and yowling and I screaming. Bulldog cleared his throat. “I agree with you all that the humans are a disgrace. They have no right to treat us like this! But we don’t have to let them be mean to us. “When push comes to shove, will shall declare war on them!”
Imagine a place- If a place that you could see Was hidden in the dark But right there in front of you
Imagine a world where spirits are set free Where they can haunt Whoever they want And they will feed off your light
Imagine a night That can happen only once in a year Where both worlds are connected On a moonless night
You can see kids all dressed up They get to be what they want And wear what they want for Only just one night
But the spirits are out- Beware! They might Be right next to you So heed my quick advice
These spirits are hungry and cold They want a peice of you But after tonight, they are gone away So their hunger must be fed on that night
Heed my words, young one Or perhaps old, the spirits Are free to catch you Only on this night
So when you go out I plead you, don’t be foolish The spirits wait for the dumb ones To crash the graveyards
And that is when you can’t be safe Not even your friends can be there Don’t mess with them either, For you may become one with them
Even though I’m quiet Doesn’t mean I’m blind Even though I don’t speak my mind much Doesn’t mean I don’t have a voice
Even though I’m quiet Even when I don’t speak It doesn’t mean I don’t know how to
When the day comes to an end All the daytime creatures rest The day I hope will change But I don’t have much to say
But it doesn’t mean I don’t care It doesn’t mean I don’t have feelings I just find it harder to find my voice So please treat me right
It’s okay to think I’m strange It’s doesn’t matter to me Just know that I’m still here I’ll choose to speak when I’m ready
How do you see a rainbow at night? Can you see it with the help of the moon and the stars? What colors are in the rainbow. Magenta, teal, crisp golden brown of a s’mores over the fire. Forest green and maroon and blue the color of a loud Jay, guarding his nest. Orange-red and Purple Mountan Majesty. They all blend together, in the night. Everyone sees a rainbow differently. Do you see a rainbow without the blue, or do you see a rainbow with only warm colors, red, orange, and yellow? Or can you only see the cold colors in a rainbow, green, blue, and purple? Can you find where the rainbow starts and ends? The rainbow surrounds the darkness and brings more color into a dark night. After a stormy night, I always look away from the clouds. The rainbow is here, it reflects off the moon. The colors I see are different than what you see. A rainbow is unique.
