Welcome To Nail

Romingo grunted as he hit the cold metal convoy

They start driving off. The road to hell snakes in twists and turns through the facade of verdant paradise. As the convoy weaves its way ever Southward into the heart of the Nafari Lands Romingo thinks about Corin and the disappointment Corin would feel

Never in twenty years has he thought of returning to this god-forsaken place.

Through a thin window, Romingo watched the rolling green peaks rise and fall, punctuated by alpine puffs of craggy windswept rock. Out in the distance, Romingo saw an outline of a mountain range out the window. He would’ve gaped in awe if it wasn’t for the constricting leather bands of the muzzle clenching his jaw shut.

Five heavily- armed soldiers sat across from Romingo warily, fingers tense, ready to flick off the safeties off and suppress any Wolfbane that dared to twitch so much as a muscle. Nail had forced Romingo and other freshly caught Wolfbanes to transform into feral Wolfbanes and then injected Romingo and the others with a drug to prohibit returning to human state for twenty-four hours. Romingo received no food or water since then, and with the heightened metabolism of his Alpha Wolfbane form ate away Romingo’s insides making him feel weaker and sicker than the others.

The more innocent of the new Wolfbanes

Might have called it torture. But it would never compare to the torture Romingo would receive for running away

Dozens of Wolfbanes had been lined up and led into a long-haul animal trailer one by one, each one was fastened to the wall by thick chains. Thin window- slits line the trailer's metal walls to let in light and air. Though Romingo assumed the accommodations were made with the soldiers in mind and not for the comfort of cargo. The old memories of Nail crept back into Romingo’s mind

He experienced dehumanization which was traumatizing. And certainly more humiliating for him and his kind. Perhaps it was their intention all along. Romingo pulled back from the grim reality that he'd never see Corin again, his home….. Now it felt like the past was happening all over again.

Romingo’s mind had fallen into the traumatic phase the thoughts of being first captured still played in his mind as if he was reexperiencing it again. Romingo tried not to think about how he had his pack captured but he couldn't stop the thoughts.

It was dark and dreary night misty fog hung low everything was quiet and that's how Romingo liked it. He sat in his bed just staring out the window his reflection stared back he was supposed to be in bed an hour ago but thoughts plagued his mind. He couldn't understand why Wolfbanes were considered monsters the only few humans trusted Wolfbanes his mother was one of them. She was supposed to marry a wealthy commoner from Saria but she never really liked him much. His mother experienced a terrible fire

A little girl was stuck inside the building his mother saw a Wolfbane man transform running into the building, many people panicked thinking the girl was easy prey for him but he came out of the fire just before the building collapsed with the little girl riding on his back. Mother fell in love with the man they soon became close friends in secret after a few years they eloped and got married after that they had a family. Though his mother’s father was furious that his daughter would mix with a Wolfband freak let alone marry him. Romingo was brought back to the present when a black SUV pulled up to the house three men stepped out of the car the middle man walked to the door banging on it loudly In the middle of the night. Romingo heard his father’s hurried footsteps go down the hall Romingo tried to hear what they were saying but their voices were muffled sooner they got louder Romingo felt shivers go down his spine as his heart dropped when he heard a gunshot ring out.

He heard his mother scream and then ran to his room she came over to him holding him protectively

“It's ok honey, be strong for mommy ok?.”

The men walked up the stairs and then stepped into Romingo’s room the two guys forcibly grabbed Romingo he tried to break free as he squirmed under their grip but they were much stronger than he was. He could hear his mother pleading with them not to take him as the two guys put a muzzle on Romingo. The middle man Romingo saw earlier spoke in a harsh tone “Get a life find a real man and not give birth to a Wolfbane freak.” with that he signaled the two men out of the room, and they roughly led Romingo down the stairs he tried gripping on to anything on the way out he held on to the stair banister for dear life. “Come on! You foolish boy!.” one man said irritably while tugging Romingo by the waist.

“No, I don't want to go with you! I want to stay with my parents!.” Romingo said as the man pulled him off the banister

“Your parents are dead you bitch!.” the man said as he picked Romingo up like a football

“My mom isn't-.”

Just then another shot rang out

He heard his mothers scream

“Mother! No!.”

Romingo started to cry as they tried to take him out of the house “You guys are the true monsters!.” Romingo whined

“That's right kid, we are the monsters to you because your kind kills off ours, now if you don't want to end up like your parents you will come quietly.” the gruff man said then pointed the gun at Romingo

Romingo let go of the doorpost the man finally carried him out to the SUV

Slowly the memory faded as the grim reality came back Romingo was still aboard the convoy prison truck. Romingo was slammed by a wolfbane Romingo winced in pain as the caravan lurched over a deep pothole. Romingo tried shaking his head to clear the cobwebs, but with his movement restricted

He could only do a little more than a shiver. One of the guards eyed Romingo nervously, fingering his gun. Before he realized he had done it, a growl escaped Romingo’s throat- his inner beast was confused and angry. How much longer till his rage consumed him Romingo thought. He was able to cut the growl short but the guard snaps to his feet

“Who the hell you growling at, dog?.” he points the gun at Romingo, stepping forward to grind the gun’s muzzle against the leather strap restraining Romingos forehead. Romingo winced in pain “I asked you a question you piece of shit!.”

Romingo couldn't take it anymore before thinking his body acted on its own he lunged for the soldier as hard as he could in his restraints the tip of Romingo’s muzzle jamming itself against the soldier’s hand. the soldier recoiled and for a moment Romingo thought the soldier was gonna shoot at him. One of the other soldiers jumps up with the swiftness of a whip-crack and pulls the offending man down into his seat, exchanging angry-sounding whispered words. Romingo caught something about not killing unless it's absolutely necessary.

Minutes later the transport truck grinds to a halt with a screech of the engine breaks that assaulted Romingo’s sensitive ears causing them to ring painfully. The soldiers opposite of Romingo rose to their feet unlocking Romingo’s restraints as the others open the rear of the truck. Each Wolfbane was lined up in a single file and walked out onto a dusty dirt road in the middle of a lightly wooded field. The area is completely surrounded by a barbed wire fence studded with armed sentries, just like when Romingo first arrived only this time he isn't a helpless little boy.

Romingo smelt the air. The earthy pine reminded him greatly of his former home, Wolvinrock but this was nothing like home.

Romingo still smelled the potent as-ever smell of well-oiled machinery and gasoline fumes. His convoy must have turned off the highway not long ago. Romingo tried to shake the thoughts of being lined up and shot here in the middle of nowhere and buried in an unmarked grave. I wouldn't put it past them Romingo thought grimly why didn't they just kill him in the alleyway of Saria why did they bring him back to this awful place? Romingo knew his logic was sound but it didn't stop the animal inside him from screaming.
