Soooo, what do you guys thiiiiinnnnnkkkk?? I might remove the last part in the description with the second week turning sour, but idk Tell me some of your thoughts in the comments if you have any
You're a single human parent of a Elf child. Today, as you ready yourself for bed, you hear them burst open the door with tears in their eyes. They jump into bed with you and hold onto you tight. As you comfort them, you hear them say through their whimpering and sobs, "I don't want you to die."
Paisley straightened and glanced down at the little elf. "I'm not going to die, baby."
They sobbed harder. "One of m-my fri-friends said s-so."
Paisley sighed. How do I explain this to a child? She thought. "Well, we all–I mean, humans, we–I won't die now, but..."
They slowly pulled away and blinked up at her. "Then...when?"
"Many, many years from now if I get lucky," She whispered.
"H-how many?"
She smiled softly. "It's hard to say for sure, but some people are lucky enough to live until 100 while others live until 70 or 80 or 90."
"F-fifty years?" they murmur. "Or sixty? Or seventy?"
She nodded. "Exactly. You get to keep me for many years to come."
Hurt and Comfort for Christmas anyone? (I'm bad at the stuff)
A JATG-centric part this time! You could go back and read the other parts before this one, but I don't want to make you feel like you have to, so there will be a summary below this
ALSO MERRY CHRISTMAS IF YOU CELEBRATE THIS IS MY GIFT TO Y'ALL
Summary: Vanessa (me) finds an 'audioFile'...uh, somewhere with a message coming from some alternate dimension with a call for help. So, she listens to the file despite being hesitant and she and her friends get transported to the alternate dimension. When they're there, the first thing they do is greet these opposites of themselves, then the plants attack and they escape with the help of a scientist named Doc Kin.
Anywhizzle, before the story starts, I have to say that I will be excluding some people this time including Drew/Alexa, Vivian Rosewood/Fennir, G.C/Grayson and Oblivious/Oliver This is nothing against any of them, I promise The others I haven't seen on here in a while like SQ, Teardrop and Icarus E. might have smaller roles or might be excluded too (Just this time! They will come back at some point!)
"I see you have some new friends...?" the doc asked, looking around.
Isaac nodded. "We can introduce you later. For now, we need to get out of here,"
Doc Kin hummed in agreement. "Follow me,"
Isaac glanced over his shoulder and signaled for everyone to move. JATG noticed all her friends hesitate — so she took the lead.
"Come on, guys! Do you want to become plant food?" she shouted.
The group sighed collectively and trailed behind. It probably wasn't good to be exposed in the middle of a carnivorous plant infested world with no protection nearby. It's a good thing the opposites had swords though.
"Welcome to my base," Doc Kin said eventually.
They crested a small hill and saw the somehow-still-intact-science lab-looking-building below. The opposites ran down the hill quickly. JATG skidded down the hill after them without hesitation, making her friends have to follow her. Doc Kin entered last and shut the large doors.
"So," the doc spun around. "Let me guess, Isaac and his friends got you all here through an interdimensional portal?"
"That pretty much sums it up," Vanessa replied.
"Well, with that development, I can start on making you all your own swords. Don't attract the plants in the meantime — I've kept this place in pristine condition for years," Doc Kin slipped through a door and closed it slowly behind him.
Isaac cleared his throat and addressed his friends. "Keep your eyes and ears open. The plants could be here any minute, despite what Doc says."
JATG found a couch and sat down comfortably — for now. Vernon left the crowd when he noticed and sat beside her.
"So, you and your friends...you met on an app right?" he asked.
"Oh, yeah! That's a writing app isn't it?" he asked.
"Indeed it is," She nodded.
Kyle suddenly approached them, wringing his wrists with his hands. "Have either of you seen Rylee around? I can't find her anywhere,"
JATG straightened immediately and looked around. "I thought she would be with you..."
They were interrupted by the sound of the doors creaking. Small bits of vines poked through the crack.
"Doc!" Someone shouted. "We could really use those swords right about now!"
"They're not all finished! I need more time!" Doc Kin hollered back.
The plants broke the door a little more. Some people were starting to look terrified.
"We don't have time! Just bring out the ones that are finished!" Kyle said.
Doc Kin hurried out of the room with a bag flung over his shoulder. He pulled five hilts out and tossed them to whoever was around him.
"Now follow me! I never expected the plants to find this place, but I still had a secret exit!"
The doc led everyone to the back of the building and down into a basement. They spot the exit he was talking about, but it was already clogged with plants.
"Okay, okay," Doc Kin whispered. "It's fine, just head back upstairs and we'll have to take the direct route again,"
"A better plan than that would be nice," Vernon whispered in JATG's ear.
She silently agreed, following back up the stairs and to the two large doors they had entered through. She didn't have a sword yet, but that didn't stop her from pushing to the door.
"On three, we run!" she shouted.
Everyone lined up beside her and waited patiently. She suddenly remembered that SQ was missing, but getting out of here was priority right now. She opened her mouth to shout the signal, but plants burst into the warehouse before she could. They shot straight for the group and tore some of JATG's friends away, ignoring the opposite's attempts to stop them.
"Run!" Doc Kin screamed.
JATG watched the plants toss her friends around with wide eyes. Only when Vernon's hand grabbed hers did she run. Her friends were important, but so was living.
The barren land stretched out before the smaller group as they continued running. The plants followed them for a few feet before going back and doing who knows what to everyone who had been captured.
"There! To the cave!" Doc Kin, at the head of the group, pointed.
He veered them in its direction and filed inside. JATG immediately sagged to the ground against a wall. Kin put the bag he had on the ground at the back of the cave and began work on the swords again. Isaac stood slowly, looking around.
"The plants can track you all. I don't know how, but they can," he addressed JATG's friends. "Which means we can't stay here for much longer,"
"What about our friends?" JATG asked. "We can't leave them,"
OKAY, now with the hardest part finished, I can move on to ask about the next part...
Should I... a) make us leave the cave and wander until coming across the plant's 'main base' somehow b) have someone gather a group and try to get the taken friends back themselves c) combine a and b into one idea
Silver the fork, Sammy the spoon, Kned the knife, Jamie the plate and Toby the mug.
Silver and Sammy are 'twins' Silver, Sammy and Kned are 'siblings' Jamie is a wise plate that the other four look up to Toby is the the only other 'adult'
6 months after being made is one year in human terms. 12 months is two years and so on.
Silver and Sammy are 18 months or three years, Kned is 24 months or four years, Jamie is 60 months or 10 years and Toby is 48 months or 8 years.
The term for humans they use is Earthborns
Opening scene planned - The earthborn moved his mouth in a strange way that made a terrible sound come out. He continued doing so even as he left his home, got in the car and drove off. The kitchen stayed quiet for a second longer before a fork moved on it's own.
"The earthborn's gone," it whispered.
A spoon leapt into the air, gaining legs and arms before landing again. "I thought It'd never leave,"
"It always leaves at this time, Sammy!" a knife reminded the spoon.
Sammy the spoon shivered. "Except for those two days. What were they called? The, uh, weak...or was it strong...?"
Can someone get this idea out of my head plz😭😭
I had the idea to make the items in the title come up life and...yeah
"I have to commemorate this!" Silver exclaimed. "Where's my phone?"
The fork started looking everywhere — including behind the toaster and in everyone's non-existant pockets — before the plate stopped her.
"We finish–"
"Each others–!"
"Sandwiches!"
The spoon groaned. "It's sentences, Silver! Not sandwiches,"
"Oh, sorry," Silver laughed nervously.
Anyways, bye!
So, one, I had the kinda, semi, half good idea to start posting random scenes I come up with in my head everyday, which won't get me very far in regards to likes, but that doesn't matter rn
Anywhizzle, I also wanted to say that I am working on the next, um, AudioFile part so if you don't remember what that is or don't know what it is, you could scroll down on my page and hopefully find parts one and two Part one should be in the 40 weeks ago range as well btw And also, you can go thank Just Another Teenage Girl on her page for calling me out on not continuing the AudioFile stories
With that, I shall bid everyone reading adeui and a good night or day 😁
"I think I know who's doing this." John murmured, half to himself.
Of course, Charlie heard him with those big ears of his. "Who, John?"
John laughed nervously. "No one. Forget I said anything."
"If you know who it is, you better tell us cat." Hope snapped. "The faster you three can leave the better."
John sighed. "She's not really, um, easy to find. But! If another portal appears, we can go through it before anyone comes out and hopefully find her from there."
Leo rubbed the back of his head. "Sounds risky. Who knows where the portal might take us?"
"There's not really any other way." John shrugged.
"Leo, you promised you would get rid of them yesterday." Hope reminded him.
"I know, I know, fine." Leo relented. "We'll do it."
"But who's all gonna go?" Mikey asked hesitantly.
"Clearly Leo and I." Hope answered quickly, turning to Raph. "And Raph and the cat."
"Why can't we go?" Charlie whined.
Hope dragged a hand down her face. "Not more whining."
"Your mom is just going to come here later and drop her back off, so don't get too used to the silence." Leo squeezed her other hand.
Hope took a deep breath. "Easier said than done."
"Since our plan is in place, I'm guessing you all have better things to do other than just standing around." John ushered everyone out of the kitchen except for Charlie and Dawn. He wanted to talk with them.
Hope grumbled under her breath. She wanted life to just go back to being full of Leo's family again—without those three—but that might not happen for a while. So for now, she would try to relax. She deduced to turn a movie on and went into the living room to do so. Leo leaned over the back of the chair as she scrolled through choices. There weren't very many.
"Bored?" He asked eventually.
"And tired of waiting." she leaned her elbow on the armrest, balled her fist and rested her cheek on it.
"Same." He circled to the front of the chair. "Move over. You need cuddles."
She obliged, still scrolling. He grabbed her hand and the remote and moved the selector back to some Jupiter Jim movie. Then took the remote away and put in down. They watched the movie in silence, Hope adjusting herself to be sprawled over Leo halfway through. Then an ear-piercing shout echoes around the lair coming from the main atrium.
"I'm gonna guess a portal finally showed up." Hope remarked after peeling her hands off her ears.
"A portal appeared! Better come quick before it disappears!" Mikey called.
She smirked at Leo and pulled herself up. She made her way to where Mikey's voice had come from and flipped over. John was already there, so was Raph. Hope shrugged and fell backwards into the portal right as Leo appeared around the corner. Everyone else followed suite once he was beside them.
The landscape on the other side was dark and almost depressing looking. Hope rocked on her heels. Leo and the others were glancing around like something was about to ambush them.
"So, what now?" Hope asked eventually.
"She's not here." John turned in a circle a few times, just to be sure. "We'll have to wait for another portal. For now we need to find somewhere where we won't be discovered."
They raced across the rooftops. Whatever this place was, it looked a lot like their New York, just gloomier. Much gloomier. And the strangest part was that everyone was solid. John suddenly ducked behind a vent. Except he didn't duck, he was pulled.
"Uh, guys...?" Raph slowed down.
Hope and Leo skidded to a stop and headed back to where Raph had stopped. Both signing in exasperation.
"What is it, R–" Leo broke off when he looked down at who was holding John in a tight hold. "Oh..."
"Let go of the cat, Mikey." someone said from behind them.
Leo, Hope and Raph spun around.
"But he's so soft!" the turtle mutant now behind them protested.
Hope blinked. She couldn't believe her eyes. When a much different dimensional variant of your husband is standing a foot in front of you, what do you do? A much more difficult question to answer than ask.
"Yeah, we'll just be taking the cat and leaving." Leo said, starting to walk away.
"Not so fast, pretty boy." the probably-Raph-from-this-dimension blocked Leo's way.
"Back off, red." Hope growled. "We're not here to cause trouble and by the looks of your masks, neither are you. So you can just let us go about our business."
"She's right, back off Raph." the blue-masked one commanded.
The Raph grumbled and went back over to the Leo's side. Hope heard a sound behind her and turned her head to watch the Mikey go to stand by the Leo too.
She cleared her throat and resolved to introduce them all. "I'm Hope, that's my Leo with the stripes, that's my Raph over there and the cat is John."
"You must know who all we are then." the Leo glanced at his dimensional counterpart, who was whispering something to Raph. "You can all call us by our full names for now to make it less, well, confusing."
"Great, Leonardo then?" that was meant to be more of a question than she made it sound. "We came here completely by accident and are trying to stop someone—who the cat won't tell us about—from continuing to send mutants from probably her dimension into ours."
A bright shimmering portal suddenly appeared to their right. Hope sighed with relief. She didn't want to be in this particular dimension anymore.
"Well, that's our call to leave." Hope headed toward it. "It was nice to have met you...three..." she just realized this dimension's Donnie wasn't here.
She yanked Leo with her into the portal. Raph and John weren't far behind.
"Oh, this is so much better!" she exclaimed. "I never want to feel or be solid ever again!"
"I'll take it you didn't like that dimension very much?" Leo teased, nudging her.
"If I wasn't so happy to be flat again, I'd probably make you look over there and push you." She warned.
Leo just laughed. She pointed in the direction of his right. He turned his head -- gullibly, I might add -- and she pushed him over.
"Hey!"
She fell back laughing so hard. "I warned you I was going to do it!"
The ground behind her head was hard. She sat back up and glanced around. The dimension they were in now also looked like their version of New York. It was brighter than the last one's, but still not nearly as bright as their New York.
"How many times are we going to land in dimensions with different versions of the turtles in them?!" Hope wanted to scream and let all of this New York hear her.
She buried her head in her hands and swallowed back the scream bubbling up her throat. Leo gently rubbed her back. Raph and John just glanced at each other.
John cleared his throat. "Hopefully this is the last time. One last portal should get us to where the creator of all these portals is located."
"Speaking of that," Hope raised his head and tried to get her stare to burn through the cat's heart. "You still haven't explained who exactly she is. Is she a mutant? Human? Yokai perhaps?"
John huffed. "She's a yokai. Portals only appear whenever she sings."
"And what is she to you?" Hope added, raising an eyebrow.
The cat stiffened. "Just a, uh, really good friend no one where I'm from has ever heard about...yeah."
She rolled her eyes. "That's not suspicious at all."
Leo suddenly elbowed her. She could see out of the corner of her eye why and took it upon herself to introduce them all again.
"I'm Hope, that's my Leo, that's my Raph and the cat is John." she explained to the four without looking up. "We'll be out of here soon, don't worry."
"How are you so tall?!" Tiny Raphael exclaimed, having walked up to Bigger Raph. "How do I get that tall?"
"I don't think you can." Raph laughed nervously. "And being tall isn't as great as it looks."
"Yada, yada, it was great meeting you four for a few minutes..." Hope trailed off as -- hopefully -- the last portal appeared. "Bye now!"
She pulled Leo in with her again. Raph and John went in after them, vanishing with the portal. The ground on this side was soft this time, being grass and not concrete. Hope couldn't be more overjoyed. (Except for when she wasn't solid anymore)
"She's here." John said after a glance around their surroundings. "Everybody keep an eye out."
Something -- or someone -- descended and landed in the middle of the little circle they had created unknowingly. "Well, welcome guests! It's nice to have some."
Everyone spun around at the same time. John narrowed his eyes.
"Jaz." the cat growled.
"What's with the greeting?" the two-tailed fox asked, mildly hurt.
"You should know why." John rolled his eyes. "You've been making portals all over the dimensions."
"You should know I mostly sing when I'm feeling happy or sad." Jaz reminded him. "I just missed you."
"Look, Jaz, was it?" Hope broke in. "You sent three different mutants into my dimension that I personally didn't want there. And neither does Raph here. If you could sing them back to where they came from that would be great."
"Well, I could..." Jaz trailed off in thought. "But I won't."
"What? Why not?" Hope demanded.
"You are really not good at first impressions, are you?" Jaz got closer to Hope.
Leo stepped forward and pushed the fox back. "Back off, cooperate and this won't end poorly for you."
"Aren't you going to stop them from saying these things to me, John?" Jaz turned back in his direction.
"Not unless you bring Dawn and Charlie back here where they belong." John said.
"I already said that won't be happening." Jaz repeated, falling back into the grass and closing her eyes.
Hope pulled everyone a few feet away. "What are we going to do? We can't just keep asking."
John sighed. "I have an idea. But it's not going to be pretty. It's best for all of you to stay here while I do it."
"What?" Hope asked.
"I know Jaz best. She'll listen to me before she listens to any of you. Just please stay here and don't move. I'll have you back to your dimension and Dawn and Charlie back here before you know it. Please trust me." he added.
"Frankly, I don't trust you, but I can just this once if that's necessary." Hope shrugged.
John nodded his thanks and hurried back to Jaz. They were far enough away that Hope, Leo and Raph couldn't catch any of their conversation. Nearly two minutes later, singing rang out. Hope had to admit -- Jaz really was good at singing. A portal opened beneath their feet, making them fall down through and for Dawn and Charlie to fall up through. Hope was finally home and the mutants were gone. John rushed over to his friends as the portal snapped shut beneath them. He was so grateful Jaz had finally agreed to send them back home.
"Are you two okay?" John asked worriedly.
"We're fine, John." Charlie reassured. "Glad to be home, though."
"Same." Dawn and John agreed at the same time.
Hope groaned as she stood up. She felt like she had been to the sun and back today. Her mom stood at the entrance to the lair, holding something, and blinked.
"Was it a bad time to bring her back?" Her mom wondered. "I didn't want her to be away from her parents for much longer."
"No, it's alright, Ma." Hope smiled at the bundle in the woman's arms. "Leo, she's back."
Hope's mom carried Chandler over and deposited her in Hope's arms. Chandler immediately started crying -- obviously for a nap.
Hope wanted to cry herself. "Please, baby, don't cry. Mommy can't take crying or whining right now."
YASS Finished and out before I go to bed, let's go (it's nearing midnight🤫) Also, 2k12 TMNT and TotTMNT jumpscare because why not Had to give Hope a break from being ✨solid✨ so I used TotTMNT as an excuse to do that cause going even further back in time to 2003 or 1987 didn't make sense...although -- unpopular opinion here -- the show was a complete bust And with all that said, without further ado, thus endeth Portal Troubles I think I speak for both of us when I say we hope you enjoyed this roller coaster Prbly time for me to go to bed now, peace out✌
This one was shy. It was obvious by the way they immediately curled into themselves when they finally opened their eyes. Hope didn't know what to do. Her life had been filled with loud, unafraid-to-speak-their-opinion kind of people and now a shy one suddenly shows up?
"I'm not good with shy people." She deflected when everyone in the room turned to her.
"Sure, but she's a girl!" Leo got behind her and pushed her forward.
She cast a glare over her shoulder at him but reached to gently put her hand on the new mutant's shoulder. The ferret startled. Hope yanked her hand away just in case.
"It's okay." she whispered. "What's your name?"
The mutant didn't answer for a second, but was flicking their eyes over her face as if searching for something. She clearly didn't find it.
"D-dawn." she replied timidly.
Hope forced a smile and backed away. "Great, we got Dawn's name, so now I can stay far away and keep my suspicions of both of them to myself."
"Raph seconds that." The snapper agreed, nodding.
Dawn notices Leo and uncurls. The ferret's eyes sparkle with something Hope knew too well. She steps in front of him to block Dawn's view.
"This Leo's mine." Hope snapped. "Save your feelings for your Leo."
The slider's face flushed. Mikey nudged him playfully with a smile. Dawn quickly looked away.
"Hey! Dawn!" Charlie suddenly exclaimed. He must've been hiding his eyes or something, how did he not notice her drop in? "You're here!"
Dawn turned her head at his familiar voice. "Charlie? I was looking for you! Then this weird portal opened beneath my feet..." she trailed off.
"The same thing happened to me!" The fruit bat told her.
Hope couldn't help but roll her eyes and pulled Raph away into the living room.
"What is it?" He asked.
"We really need to find a way to get these two back home." She sighed. "Sure, they're friendly, but Leo might get too attached and I can't have that."
"Raph senses jealousy." He chuckled.
"I am not jealous!" she protested. "Look, can you help me convince Leo to send them home or not?"
"Sure, I'll try. But as his girlfriend, you should know how stubborn he can be." He warned.
"Yeah yeah, I know. But I also know he can't resist it when I pull the 'damsel in distress' card." She smirked.
"Raph forgets you were in the Foot sometimes." the terrapin shook his head with a sigh.
"Why thank you, I'll be taking that as a compliment." She bowed low.
They headed back to the kitchen. Donnie had come back from his lab and was showing Charlie whatever he had drawn while also continuing his inspection of the bat's wings.
"Hope, you can't tell me she's not adorable." Leo yanked her over to see Dawn.
"She's not." Hope said, straightfaced.
Leo sighed. "You can't be this closed-minded. That's not the Hope I know or got married to."
"Right, and this Leo that seems to be on anyone's side but mine isn't the one I know or got married to either." She raised a brow purposefully.
"This is the first time we've had visitors in forever and you're acting like this?" his voice got a little higher pitched.
"Excuse me?" she laughed. "I'm being unreasonable when these two literally showed out of nowhere from a different dimension—no, actually not out of nowhere, the first one came out of your portal."
Leo straightened his back and turned his head to the side to stare at the floor. "Maybe parts of the Foot Clan never truly leave someone."
She gasped. "W-what?"
She stood frozen for a second. Leo kept his gaze on the floor—clearly he knew he had messed up. Raph slowly walked forward and led Leo away. Hope still didn't move. Donnie, Mikey, Charlie and Dawn glanced at each other, unsure what to say or do.
Mikey eventually cleared his throat. "You, uh, okay?"
"I-I'm fine." she wiped the single tear away. "He didn't mean it. I know him better than that. When he comes back tell him I'm in his room, will you?"
Without waiting for an answer, she ran out of the kitchen and slammed Leo's train car door behind her.
He didn't mean it. He didn't mean it. He didn't mean it. He didn't. mean it. He didn't mean it.
She repeated that over and over and over while pacing in a circle. She took deep breaths and eventually calmed down. She wanted to curl into his bed or somewhere and sleep, but knew her buzzing brain wouldn't allow her to right now.
"Can I come in...?" Leo's hesitant, muffled voice asked.
"No." she answered, going over to sit in front of the door. "Just talk through the door."
She heard him sigh and sit. They stayed like that for a minute or two.
"I didn't–" he started.
"I know, Leo." she interrupted. "I know you better than that."
"Raph told me you two wanted me to try to send them home." he said. "We can do it tomorrow, I promise. Okay?"
She took a final deep breath, got up and opened the door. Leo nearly fell back into her legs, but pulled himself to his feet in time. She wrapped her arms around him in a hug.
"I trust you, Nardo." she pulled away and looked deep into his eyes. "You know that, right?"
Aahhh, it's done now Sorry for the wait, I got distracted writing a Hope and Leo winter scene and Hope and Leo's wedding for a bit there😭 And Leo truly didn't mean that, I wouldn't do Hope like that, I swear🙏
Hope flopped down into her bed. She grumbled and twisted to put her back to the wall. Today was almost terrible. Her hand reached out and grabbed her phone off the nightstand. She sat up and checked the notifications. Some from Instagram, some from Cass, and...
She straightened her back so fast it burned. How in the world did he get her number? Had Cass given it to him? No, that was impossible.
"How...?"
She opened it hesitantly and hovered her finger over the text box. She had no idea what to say to this guy. She sighed and turned her phone off, putting it away to lie back down. She closed her eyes and tried to fall asleep, but the text wouldn't leave her mind. She glanced over at the phone, picked it back up and quickly sent something back. Hope was surprised at how quickly he responded. She shouldn't be doing this. Almost furiously, she put her phone back on the nightstand and plugged it in.
Then she finally fell asleep.
Hopefully the song lines up right😭 I really want to draw and animate this, but I can do neither of those things, so we're stuck with this for now😭 And I know, I know, I'm posting this before I post the second Portal Troubles part, but I have a vision that I need to write down before I lose it Sorry A.J., I promise I'm working on it😭
I have been secretly writing about a certain couple A LOT lately, so this is me giving myself a break.
And I know I said that the writing where I add the girls into the end of the movie would be the last I post about rottmnt, and I am so sorry, but I haven't been as active recently, so very post on here counts!
Kaede stepped off the building and easily landed on the next. Leo followed suit.
"How did you learn to be so graceful like that?" He asked.
She shrugged. "Past stuff I'd rather not talk about."
Leo suddenly smirked. "Race to the docks?"
She narrowed her eyes competitively. "You are so on!"
They ran across the rooftops with ease, wind rushing past their faces. Sometimes she was in front, other times it was him. When they reached the docks, though, Kaede was victorious.
"Ha! Take that, Lee!" she exclaimed.
She felt unnerved by his silence and spun around. He was there, arms forced behind his back and a hand over his mouth, accompanied also by a very furious expression. Before she could so much as gasp, she felt hands tug on her arms and instinctively kicked out. Whoever was behind her yelped and stumbled backward.
"What's going on here?" she demanded. "Who are you all?"
"We..." the one restraining Leo started. "Work for the King, who you and your comrades betrayed."
Kaede widened her eyes. "You can't be serious..."
"Unfortunately for you, I am Lady Kaede. He sent us to come get you." they continued.
"What does he want me for?" she asked.
"He wants you back on his side." they replied. "Though, I still don't see why. You clearly chose where your loyalties lie."
Kaede bared her teeth. "Tell him to fuck off. Him doing what he did to the turtles crossed a line."
"I'm afraid I can't do that." they said, shrugging. "It'd be better for everyone if you went willingly."
"Never." she snapped.
Who she had kicked away had gotten back up and forced her to her knees now. She glared up at the Tanuki holding Leo. They laughed and let him go, pushing him from the container.
"Woah!" he managed to land on his feet. "Okay, maybe not do that next time, please."
Kaede pushed against the Tanuki behind her to stand, but a much firmer and familiar set of hands pressed her into the concrete.
"How nice to see you again, Kaede~" the owner of the hands whispered.
Now she remembered. "You." she growled.
"Now, don't be like that." he leaned down to get close to her face. "You know you still love me."
"I most do certainly do not." she turned her head away from his. "I thought I told you that when we broke up."
Leo stared, dumbfounded. "Broke up?! When were you going to tell me about this?"
Kaede craned her neck up as much as she could to meet his gaze. "Honestly, never. My past with the Tanuki King is something I would haved liked to forget about, but clearly that didn't last beyond four months."
"You wanted to forget about me?" her ex sounded hurt.
"Yes, Ray. I wanted to fucking forget about you." she spat his name distastefully like it was poison.
Ray looked hurt now too. Pathetic. The King would have killed him for that look and they both knew it, which is probably why it vanished a second later.
"Whatever. Let's just get this whole excursion over with." Ray snapped his fingers.
The two other Tanuki joined him and that cursed white portal opened. Kaede struggled uselessly against every hand holding her back. Leo jumped around the portal, shook from his shock, but Ray merely hit him away.
"Leo!" Kaede shouted. "Tell them I'm-!"
The portal closed before she could finish. Leo had to go home and break the news. Fortunately, her sisters knew.
"She told me to tell you-"
"That she's in the lion's den." They finished. "Fantastic."
"How are we going to rescue her?" Leo asked.
"We don't." Tomio fished a cup from a cabinet. "We have to wait for her to rescue herself."
"What do you mean?" Leo demanded. "I'm not just going to sit around and wait for her to be killed."
"Trust us, Leo. It's best not to make any moves to get her out." Ko explained. "The King will know, and he will kill each and every one of us." She paused. "And Kaede too if he hasn't already."
Kaede felt stuck. Trapped. Her mind was hazy and her limbs felt like lead. Thoughts darted around her brain like teasing mosquitoes. Where was she? She couldn't remember.
"Oh good, you're awake." someone said.
Through her blurry vision, she barely made out a hand reaching down, going for something on her neck. In a flash of panic and animalistic fear, she lashed out and sent the hand (and the person) reeling backwards.
"Hey, calm down, I'm just here to help." they whispered.
The only word Kaede registered was 'help'. She immediately relaxed, only to tense up again when her only coherent thought since she'd woken up entered her brain: You're not supposed to be here.
She growled at the hand. Her previously clouded vision started to clear, along with her head. The Tanuki before her just blinked and stared.
"Who are you?" she demanded. "And where's the King so I can ripe his fucking heart out?"
"Okay, Lady Kaede, let's just calm down." they laughed nervously and pushed their glasses back up their nose. "I was merely instructed to tend to any...injuries you may have."
"So you're a doctor then, huh?" Kaede started reaching for her sword.
This is when she became aware of the heavy cuffs holding her arms back. And another pair biting her ankles. Clearly the King knew what he was doing.
"I am truly sorry we had to do that, but it was on his Majesty's direct orders." the doctor apologized.
"Yeah, sure you're sorry." Kaede glanced around the room. "Pretty small for such a distinguished doctor as yourself."
They shrugged. "The King doesn't like to 'waste his money'. Although I have told him that sparing money for a place to heal the injured isn't a waste..."
"Well obviously he doesn't know a good healer when he sees one. Perhaps if you let me go, I could help you knock some sense into him?" Kaede offered.
"Yes! Er, I mean no..." they trailed off. "Getting the King to realize his mistake is nice, but I'd rather not face his anger if it doesn't work..."
Kaede stared a hole into the floor below her. Of course her plan to escape didn't work. Of course the doctor didn't want to face the King's fury.
"But I could help you to get out of here another way!" they suddenly exclaimed.
"Wait, for real?" Kaede eyed them suspiciously.
They nodded enthusiastically. "I know this place like the back of my hand. I can pretend to be taking you elsewhere for treatment, then we can sneak to the secret vent behind the King's throne!"
Kaede raised a brow. "Behind the King's throne? That sounds like a trap, no thanks."
"I'm serious!" they persisted. "I want to help you, and nobody else knows about that vent but me!"
"How is it possible only you know about it?" Kaede asked accusingly.
"Your comrades told me about it." The doctor smiled.
"You mean Saki, Ko and Tomio? How would they have known about it?" Kaede shifted. Did she really want to know?
"It was when we were all younger." They explained. "Your comrades came to me and showed me the vent they had found, which lead to behind the King's throne. I thought they would have told you, but maybe they forgot."
Kaede sighed. "Of course they kept that from me. Whatever, let's just get this over with."
"You trust me?" they asked cautiously, with a little too much excitement.
"Yeah, I guess I do. But try any funny business, and I will not hesitate to kill you." She warned.
They hurried over and began unlocking the cuffs."We gotta hurry. The guards will be here to check on you any second now."
The second Kaede's wrists and ankles were free, she was sprinting out of the room.
"Wait! They'll catch you if you're too far ahead of me!" The doctor shouted.
But Kaede ignored her. She knew exactly where the throne room was, and she was getting out of here. She skidded around a corne, shifted into an ant and ducked behind the huge golden throne quickly before shifting back.
"Where'd you go?!" the doctor sprinted into the room, panicking and out of breath.
"Where'd who go?" one of the guards on either side of the throne asked.
The doctor was quiet for a second, probably thinking something over. "Oh, uh, hello guards! I was just looking for my...needle! Yes, my needle because Lady Kaede is just being so uncooperative that I need to put her to sleep to do anything."
Kaede dragged a hand down her face. They were terrible at lying. She focused on the vent and started unscrewing the sides with a finger. Eventually, the entrance fell away and she reached her hands out to catch it, but it clattered to the ground loudly. She held her breath and rushed to squeeze herself into the small vent space. She hadn't heard the guards leave, but judging by the fact that she didn't have a hand on her tail pulling her back, they were definitely gone.
She proceeded slowly, only hurrying to get past places with too many Tanuki. Her efforts weren't in vain, fortunately, and she finally reached the exit. She pushed against the door and when the screws came loose, tumbled out onto the other side.
"How nice of you to join us, Lady Kaede." Ray greeted in a midly chilling tone.
Kaede panicked and stumbled to her feet. She scrambled for the doors. Two guards slipped in front of them, making her skid to a stop. She glanced behind her at Ray as if he'd help. The armored Tanuki forced her arms behind her down to her knees.
"Take her to join us." Ray commanded.
And they did. Kaede folded her ears back instinctively and growled when they pushed her into the chair.
"The King and I were just talking about the ball coming up." Ray explained. "And how since I took your place after you left, I would be the guest of honor at this years."
She sat up straight, widened her eyes and flicked her ears back up. She faced the King.
"He replaced me?" She asked incredulously. "But shouldn't Tanya have? She was second in line."
"Well, Tanya wasn't ready, so Ray was the next best option." the King filled her in.
Kaede went silent after that.
Ray shared a look with the King before reaching out and taking her hand. "Will you come with me to the ball?"
She flattened her ears again and pulled her hand away. "Not a chance."
"I was afraid you'd say that." Ray sighed. "The King had a plan if you did."
The King snapped. The guards yanked Kaede from the chair and dragged her away.
"You'll never get away with this!" she shouted furiously.
"Oh, dear sister." the King laughed.
Kaede stopped struggling.
Two weeks. It had been two weeks since Leo had watched Kaede get pulled away into that portal. Her sisters had told her to wait, but even they were getting worried now.
"Boys." Tomio whispered.
Leo, Raph, Mikey and Donnie turned to her from their places around the kitchen table.
"We...have something to tell you." She continued. "Something we'd rather keep in the dark, but might be useful knowledge for the current situation."
Saki and Ko shuffled nervously into the kitchen beside Tomio, avoiding all their stares.
"First of all, we're-"
"We're not really sisters!" Ko burst out. "Sorry, I got too nervous." she added at Tomio's glare.
"Yes, we aren't really sisters. It's just what we-"
"WHAT?!" the four brothers broke from their confused stupor.
The sisters girls went silent with shame. They all stayed like that for a few minutes before Tomio continued explaining.
"The King is...Kaede's brother. He had to raise her after their parents died, and since he's a little over sixteen years older than she is. Saki's family actually took them in when her mom found them. Then, nearly exactly two years later, Saki's dad found Ko and I and they took us in too.
"When the King was twenty, he participated in a competition to find who the next King would be, since the last had passed without an heir. Obviously, he won, and claimed his throne, taking his little sister to the castle with him to raise completely.
"We didn't know what had become of Kaede until six years later, when we were ten, and an invitation was sent out to join the new Royal training program. Which we did. We were so excited to see Kaede again, naturally."
"Wait wait wait." Leo interrupted. "I'm didn't hear anything past the 'we're not really sisters' part."
Raph hit the back of Leo's head. "Focus, Leo. This is serious stuff."
"What, you guys were actually listening?" Leo turned to them.
"Yes...Nardo, we were, now shut up and pay attention. Like Raph said, this is serious." Donnie added.
Tomio cleared her throat. "You know, maybe this isn't the best time to be telling you this. We should've waited until Kaede was back."
"No, no. You're going to finish your story, and then we're getting Kaede back." Leo said.
"Leo." Raph warned.
"What now? You said to pay attention and that's what I'm going to do!"
"You don't talk to Tomio that way." Raph growled.
Leo narrowed his eyes. "Right. Because she's so precious to you. Well guess what Raph? Kaede's precious to me, and we really need to get on with this whole confession so we can save her!"
"It's not a confession."
"Then what is it? A story? A tale from their past they never told us about?"
Raph sighed. "We can't keep arguing like this, Leo."
"Pff, yeah, coming from you we definitely shouldn't." Leo retorted.
"I'm serious! We'll never rescue her if we do!"
"Like you would care about Kaede." Leo snorted. "You only care for Tomio. I'm outta here."
He stormed out of the kitchen past the girls who had been watching, made a portal and vanished.
"I'll go after him." Tomio said. "It's my fault, anyway."
"But sis, he could-" Ko stopped herself and flinched at the name. "He could kill you Tom."
"I know." Tomio whispered. "But I started this." she looked up at Raph. "I'm sorry."
Kaede paced the cold stone floor of the cell and shivered.
"Your sisters will come for you." She said to herself. "You'll be free from this before you know it."
But they hadn't. It had been two weeks and they hadn't. Now she was losing herself, she was losing herself, she was losing herself. The click of the lock made her jump and freeze. Ray stepped into the cell after the heavy door swung open. He looked pleased with himself.
"Well, you've been in here for a few days." he started, walking closer. "Have you made up your mind?"
Kaede blinked in confusion. Made up her mind about what? She couldn't remember. She had assumed she had forgotten before because of a drug, but now she knew it was because she had been locked away for so long.
"S-sorry." she murmured. "Made up my m-mind about w-what?"
His growing smile instantly vanished. "I'm going to take that as you need more time in here. Be sure to have your answer by-"
Something in her mind snapped right there. She fell to her knees and sobbed. She had to get out of here, she needed to.
"Please, I'll say yes to whatever you wanted, just get me out of here!" she begged.
Ray's smile returned, showing too many teeth. "I didn't think you'd break so easily to it, my dear." he crouched down to her level and lifted her head. "Very well, you will join me for the ball and never have to see this place again."
Kaede blinked and wiped her tears away. In that moment, Leo slipped from her mind. Ray gently pulled her close into a hug then away again for a kiss. Her tail softly swished against the ground happily. She was finally getting out of here. And she realized how much she missed kissing him, even if he was her ex.
"Shall we?" Ray asked, pulling away.
"Please!" Kaede exclaimed.
He took her hand and guided her from the cell. She was so excited she could've sprinted the rest of the way, but Ray's warm hand kept her grounded.
"We'll need to get you prepared." he told her. "And the King has offered us the best of the best to do so."
"He did?" Kaede asked.
"Why yes! I am his second-in-command now after all!" Ray exclaimed.
He took her to three different pure white rooms that day (afternoon?). Before she knew it, she was in the most beautiful blue dress she had ever seen.
"Blue..." her eyes widened as she looked in the mirror. "Leo...was going to come save me..."
"What was that, dear?" Ray came up behind her, placing his hands on her bare shoulders.
"N-nothing." she stammered. "I was just misremembering something is all."
"That's good." he said. "Because for a second I thought I heard you say someone was coming to save you." his grip tightened.
"Nope!" she shouted a little too quickly.
He smiled and guided her into a almost blindingly light blue room. The King was waiting for them.
"Ah, there you two are!" he greeted. "My you have really outdone yourself with dressing up my little sis, haven't you Ray?"
Kaede flinched and looked away. He hadn't called her that in years. (Or maybe it was a few days?).
"She did end up agreeing, so I thought I would reward her a bit." Ray shrugged.
"Yes, well, anyways," The King continued. "The ball is to start soon, so you might want to get going."
Ray nodded respectfully and pushed her away. They made it to the ballroom and searched for their seats and Tanuki to talk to.
"Lady Kaede!" a couple exclaimed. "It's been so long! Where'd you disappear off to for four months?"
Kaede smiled at them and opened her mouth to answer, but Ray cut her off.
"All that matters is that she's home and back with me." He kissed her to prove the point.
She swished her tail happily and watched the couple leave nervously out of the corner of her eye.
"Let's...find our seats." He whispered.
(And extra note to A.J. Kit if you're reading this: if you don't agree, please say so!)
