Some Things Stay The Same

"Can we leave now mom?" I tell my mom pulling on her shirt wanting to leave and just go home. I look up at her to see if she heard me but she is just talking to other moms. Ugh, I knew I shouldn't have come to this. My mom made me go to this place to get to know people. I know why she brought me. She thinks I am a homebody even though she wouldn't say it out loud. Some people would just rather be at home snuggled in a blanket and curled up with good book. Thats me. But my mom thinks I should get out into the world. Whatever. Some things stay the same hate to break it to you mom.

She glances down at me seeing that I was waiting to go home and not playing with the other kids.

She excuses herself nicely telling the other moms about the situation. I smirk to myself knowing that I would be home in a few minutes. Yes.

She grabs my hand and gently pulls me away. As soon as we are out of sight she drops my hand and sighs.

β€œMegs, you need to at least try to get to know some kids! You don’t want to be always at home with nothing!” She scolds me quietly trying to get me to change my mind.

β€œYes actually that is what I want. So can we please go home now?” I groan at her knowing that she would give up soon.

She just nods and grabs my hand again and starts walking to our car.

β€œFine but at least I tried. I am not giving up Megan.” She turns the keys and starts pulling out of the gravel parking lot. I grin at my moms words knowing that would not change me.

As we pull into our driveway of our house, I pull open the car door racing inside. Slipping on my pajamas and grabbing a warm glass of milk, I cozy up on my favorite reading chair in the center of the living room and snuggle up in my fuzzy blanket with my current book in my arms. Ahhhhhh. See? This is nice. β€œSome things stay the same.” I tell myself smiling as I open up my book.

Hope you enjoyed reading this! I did not know what else to write for this prompt so here you go!
