The Roots That Keep Us Grounded
Believe me when I say
The people you surround yourself with, influence your success
The people you call your “family”, your mother, your father, your sibling
They’re not always the ones who support you
Who help you up when you fall down
Who push you to keep going even after you give up
They’re not always the ones who believe in you
And that’s okay
Sometimes your real family is your group of friends
The people who you’ve met along the way
Your team, your coworkers
And that’s okay
Roots are supposed to nourish a tree, not destroy it
Don’t ever spend time with people who only bring you down
Who only care about themselves and don’t bother to take care of you
Roots connect us all
They’re our way of survival
Connect yourself with people who only want the best for you
Who only want to help you
Not use you
And never forget to support them too
Because just as much as you need it
They need it too
Heal each other
Heal the scars, even if you haven’t caused them
Give and you’ll find yourself receiving
And you won’t care about receiving,
You’ll appreciate it either way,
But that won’t be the reason why you give
And that’s when you know that you’ve found the roots that keep you grounded
