The Minnesota Sunset, And It’s Best, Too

The Minnesota sunset is like eating cotton candy on a canoe in the middle of Lake Superior. Some of the best Minnesota sunsets are that, too, but on an 80-degree day with one heck of a nice cool breeze.

The Minnesota sunset is like walking in to a fire-warmed home after an hour or two of snow blowing into the darkness of 7:30 PM on a Wednesday. And an exceptionally superior Minnesota sunset would include hot cocoa, of course!

The Minnesota sunset is like looking into your child’s eyes as they grow sleepy; slow and calm, yet a strange and confusing sense of adrenaline and vigor fills the trunk of your body and makes your throat feel the need to sing. And if you’re out there watching one of the most dazzling sunsets that Minnesota can offer, then it feels an awful lot like that sleepy child resting their head on your chest as they fall asleep, peaceful and safe, in your arms.

The Minnesota sunset is like kissing your first love in the warm glow of the street lamps just moments after they come on at night. And if it ignited a fire in you like no other, than you yourself have felt the warm embrace of a Minnesota sunset drench you in light and love, despite the fact that you may have been many, many miles away.

The Minnesota sunset is unlike any other I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing. I would describe it time and time again, if only time allotted. I hope that one day, you can feel her warm and gentle, yet invigorating and grandiose rays casting their inspiration and light upon the map on your face that life illustrated with great attention to detail. May it warm even the deepest, most forgotten cracks of your soul.
